Chidwick Looking to Retake USPO Lead at Event #6 Final Table

Stephen Chidwick is now the only player besides Sean Winter to make four final tables at the 2019 U.S. Poker Open. Chidwick is currently sitting 100 points behind Winter. He will tie Winter for the lead with a third-place finish. As for today, Chidwick enters as the chip leader with six players remaining. Cary Katz has a chance to jump into the top three as well, making his third final table after finishing second to Ali Imsirovic yesterday in Event #5.

The case for Chidwick being able to defend his USPO title is only strengthened by his ability to play non-Hold’em games. He won the mixed game event in 2018 and has now final tabled the $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament at this year’s USPO. Chidwick also final tabled the $10,000 Short Deck Hold’em.

The players standing between Chidwick and another USPO tournament win are Ben Lamb, making his second 2019 USPO final table appearance. Tom Marchese, Anthony Zinno, and Sean Rafael are all making their first 2019 USPO final table appearances. Zinno has a World Series of Poker bracelet in the $25,000 PLO event and Tom Marchese is widely considered one of the best players in the world. Rafael has only two recorded tournament cashes, but has navigated a difficult field to make this final table and seems more than able to make a splash in his final-table debut.
