Through the Lens: Peters Closes the Show

David Peters came from behind to beat Sean Winter and Stephen Chidwick for the USPO title

Just like that the 2019 USPO has come and gone. Heading into the final day, there were a few ways the USPO could shake out, but Sean Winter was likely the betting favorite. If Winter’s cashed, he would have locked up the title and $100,000 bonus, but if he busted before the money that opened the door for David Peters. Sure enough, Winters was eliminated in 8th place and then Peters navigated his way through a tough final table to win the $100,000 Main Event. He picked up $1.3 million and also took home the trophy and bonus. Here is a look back at some of my favorite images from the final table!

The Break Desk crew prepares to finish off their Frank’s Red Hot challenge. Earlier in the week the three each picked a player to finish well in the main event, with the two losers having to take a shot of Franks. As you can probably tell from the photo, Brent Hanks ended up winning, forcing Jeff and Maria to start their day off with some hot sauce!
The final 9 of the $100k Main Event at the 2019 USPO. Only the top 6 would finish in the money.
The $100K brought out a few names we had not seen all series, including 2018 SHRB Champion Ike Haxton, and Jason Koon (pictured). Koon unfortunately had his aces cracked with 7 players left, leaving him the shortest stack. He would bow out in 7th place a few hands later, just shy of the money.
Sean Winter graciously exists short of the money at the final table of the 2019 U.S. Poker Open Main Event, an elimination that would ultimately cost him the trophy by just 10 points.

Keith Tilston and Chris Hunichen battle it out in a hand late into the final table. The two would go on to finish 3rd (Tilston) and 2nd (Hunichen) respectively.
