Through the Lens: Big Names Fall on Day 6

THE FINAL TABLE OF THE 2019 WSOP MAIN EVENT WILL BE SET TONIGHT

There are just three tables remaining as we speak in the 2019 World Series of Poker Main Event and the remaining players’ dreams of winning $10,000,000 are slowly becoming a reality. Day 6 was a long action-packed day of poker inside the Amazon room, as the field shrunk down to 35 players from 106 before play halted.

On Day 6, some of the biggest names in the game fell short on their journey to the final table including Sam Greenwood, Antonio Esfandiari, Alex Foxen, and Jake Schindler. Here are some of my favorite images from yesterdays play.

Chris Hunichen’s online resume speaks for itself, as the pro has been one of the biggest tournament crushers of the past few years. It was no surprise to see him deep in the main but unfortunately for Hunichen, he was eliminated late on Day 6.
One of the other emerging storylines was 2005 Main Event Champion Joe Hachem’s son, Daniel Hachem, trying to follow in his fathers footsteps. Unfortunately for Hachem, after running a failed bluff, he was unable to recover and was eliminated on Day 6 as well.
All eyes are on 21-year old Nick Marchington who is currently the chip leader in his first WSOP Main Event ever. Marchington can become the youngest player to ever win the Main if he can continue his upward trend through Wednesday.
Timothy Su won one of the most memorable hands of the tournament, when he moved all in holding an open-ended straight draw on the turn, and was called by the aces of Sam Greenwood. Su binked his straight on the river, eliminating Greenwood.
Poker immortality awaits the lucky 9 players who survive Day 7 and advance to the final table later tonight.
