Through the Lens: The 2019 British Poker Open is Underway

THE FIRST FINAL GETS UNDERWAY AT 8AM ET ON TUESDAY

Today was the official start to the 2019 British Poker Open here at Aspers Casino in London. Event #1 was a £10,000 NLH Event that drew a final of 26 entries. Play ended when we reached our final 5, as players will return tomorrow on the direct money bubble.

The eventual winner will take home £119,600 and valuable points for the British Poker Open Championship. Here’s a collection of some of my favorite images from Event #1.

Former US Poker Open Champion, Stephen Chidwick, has officially arrived in London! Unfortunately for Chidwick, he was eliminated in 7th place when his ace-queen was bested by the two queens of Mike Watson.
It seemed as if it was going to be the end of the road for Sam Grafton, as he got the last of his chips into the middle holding two kings, against the two aces of Mike Watson. Fortunately for Grafton, he would hit running diamonds to make a king-high flush and double.
The full schedule is on display for the entire poker room, as this giant British Poker Open schedule sits square on the wall behind the players.
A look at the British Poker Open main stage, where all the final tables will be streaming for the next two weeks!
With over $28,000,000 in live earnings, it should be no surprise to see Steve O’Dwyer making a deep run. O’Dwyer was one of the last people to enter the tournament today and managed to run up a stack to come back in contention for the title tomorrow.
