Wai Leong Chan Wins Super High Roller Finale, partypoker pro Isaac Haxton Second
Malaysian pro Wai Leong Chan almost opened and closed the Caribbean Poker Party with Super High Roller wins.
Earlier this week, Chan finished 2nd to Daniel Dvoress in the $250,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl Bahamas. Last night, Chan broke through and won the $25,000 buy-in Super High Roller Finale – beating partypoker pro Isaac Haxton heads up for $380,000 and the title.
The final hand concluded around 3:00 AM local time – after Haxton flopped a straight on [7x5x3x]. The turn was another [7x] and after the chips got in, Chan needed help with [Kx7x]. He found a [Kx] on the river and in a flash, the heads up battle was over and Chan was victorious.
While Haxton was denied a CPP title, he wasn’t the only partypoker pro to end the series with a cash. Kristen Bicknell finished in the money as well – recording a 7th place finish to go with a MILLIONS Main Event cash and a score in the opening $25K Super High Roller – along with SHRB Bahamas final tablist Jason Koon.
With seven places paid, the nine-handed final table was tense from the start – but after short stacks Phil Ivey and Fabrizio Gonzalez exited there was a rush of action.
Bicknell went first, then Dutchman Rob Hollink bowed out in 6th, before Koon hit the rail in 5th. Ali Imsirovic finished one spot short of the podium and Sean Winter earned bronze.
