Welcome to the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Super High Roller Series here in Sochi, Russia for Event #8: $250,000 NLH Super High Roller Bowl Russia.
The time has now come for the Main Event everyone has been waiting for as the $250,000 Super High Roller Bowl Russia kicks off at 5 p.m. (MSK). All players will be starting the day with 250,000 in chips and levels will last 90-minutes in length throughout the event. This tournament has a $5,000 fee but any player who jumps in before the start of the day will have no fee but those who late register will be paying the fee in full. The late registration and re-entry period will remain open until the start of level 7 (Day 2).
The closest buy-in event leading up to the main was Event #6: $100,000 NLH in which a deserving face reigned supreme. Paul Phua went into the final table as the short-stack but when the last chance saloon had closed for business, he was the only player left to lift the trophy over his head. The Triton co-founder had been searching for this moment for the last five years, having four second-place finishes in any Super High Roller Series leading up to it. Phua took home $1,512,000 for his first SHR victory, bringing his total tournament earnings to over $18 million.
Event #7: $50,000 Short Deck kicked-off yesterday with 55 slips being sold for the second last Short Deck event of the series. The final six return today to battle it out for the $856,050 first-place prize money. Leading the way is Malaysian pro Michael Soyza who went from all-in on the bubble to bagging a commanding lead. Soyza will have to fend off one of the best to ever play in Phil Ivey who sits in second on the ranks. Rounding out the final six are Sergi Reixach, Lee Wai Kiat, Seth Davies, and Canada’s Sam Greenwood.
