Arthur Conan was down to his last 50,000 in chips and out of time extensions late in level two, but the French pro battled all the way back to walk away with $227,500 and the title in Bellagio High Roller Event #11: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em.
Conan started his climb to the top, taking the occasional pot over the next level but started to find his groove when he eliminated Justin Bonomo holding ace-king against Bonomo’s ace-jack late in level four. Conan would stay near the top of the chip counts from then on and solidify the chip lead when he cracked the pocket kings of Rok Gostisa five-handed.
Conan was all-in for 236,000 total, holding ace-four of diamonds, and Gostisa called with his pocket kings. Conan turned the nut flush to take the chip lead and never looked back. A few hands later, Conan would send Nick Petrangelo out the door in fifth place when his ace-queen cracked Petrangelo’s pocket kings.
Jake Schindler would be the next combatant to fall when his king-queen ran into Alex Foxen’s ace-king. Schindler could not find one of the remaining three queens in the deck and headed out the door in fourth place.
Fresh of his win in Event #10: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em, Rok Gostisa would fall on the money bubble at the hands of Conan when his jack-nine was bested by Conan’s ace-three.
Heads up play was a quick affair as Foxen could not get anything going and eventually found himself all-in with pocket nines against the ace-seven of Conan. For the third flip in a row, Conan found an ace of the flop, and Foxen was out the door in second place for the second tournament in a row after finishing second in Event #10. Foxen takes home $97,500 for his second consecutive second-place finish to bring his two-day total to $255,000.
