Through the Lens: Late Arrivals; Early Exits

CHECK OUT THE PHOTO RECAP OF DAY 2A/B NOW

Day 2A/B is officially in the books of the 2019 WSOP Main Event. A total of 344 players registered right before the start of play including big names such as Phil Hellmuth and Antonio Esfandiari.

Hellmuth’s day did not go as planned, as he had a hard time recovering from a bluff gone wrong early, and was eventually eliminated. Esfandiari went on to bag around 114,000 and is in a position for another deep run here as Day 3 gets underway. Here’s a collection of some of my favorite images from Day 1C of the Main!

Phil Hellmuth was one of the last to show up to the Main Event. While the Poker Brat did not turn up with one of his grand entrances, he did make a grand exit.
Hellmuth ran a bluff in a river spot and was snap-called by a pair. The handset off Hellmuth on one of his infamous rants, and eventually would be the downfall of his main event. Hellmuth was unable to recover from the blunder and exited the main event in the next level, marking it one of his quickest exits in main event history.
Antonio Esfandiari hasn’t been around the Rio much this summer, but not even he could turn down an opportunity to play the Main Event. The Magician was chatting it up with his table all day and eventually bagged 114,000 to take on to Day 3.
A meeting of the minds as TD Jack Effel and Charlie Ciresi talk shop with Mori Eskandani and Dan Gati from Poker Productions.
Yesterday also marked the first shower of the summer for Uncle Ron, as he was eliminated late into Day 2AB. Ron was last seen walking down the hallway with his lucky melon, headed out of the Rio.
