Through the Lens: A New Perspective

DREW AMATO’S PHOTO BLOG SHOWS YOU THE WORLD SERIES OF POKER THROUGH A DIFFERENT LENS

We are officially closing in on the end of the first week of the WSOP, which also happened to be one fo the craziest weeks at the Rio ever. A record number of players turned out to take their shot at some of the opening events including the Big Fifty, and the $600 Deepstack, as well as some of the biggest names for the $50k High Roller. Moving forward with my blogs through the summer, I’m going to try and provide a different perspective of all things WSOP, and shoot primarily in black and white. I love the feel of the black and white images, especially when it comes to behind the scenes photos. You can also check out my daily portrait series, The World Series of Portraits, over on my twitter where I post a new portrait everyday of someone from the WSOP. Below are some of my favorite images from the first week here at the Rio!

Up close and personal with Andrew Lichtenberger, Nick Petrangelo, and Ben Heath at the final table of the $50K High Roller.
It’s still early in the series, but that didnt stop a large rail from turning out to sweat their favorite players in the high roller event.
Part of my World Series of Portraits, I photographed Chris Ferguson.
Daniel Negreanu always takes time out of his day to greet fans for photos, or signatures. Here he can be seen signing a book for a lucky fan during the $10K Short Deck event.
It takes an army of dealers to tackle events with turnouts like the Big 50 and $600 Deep Stack. Ethan the floor guy is seen here running them through the procedure before they head out into the field.
