Event #1 of the Poker Masters kicked off Wednesday and drew 51 entries for the $50,000 buy-in event, which juiced the prize pool to over $2.5 million. The Feature Table streamed on PokerGO played deep into the night to trim the field to an official final table, Daniel Negreanu bubbled for a min-cash and the live stream kicks off at Thursday afternoon at 3:30 pm ET only on PokerGO.
Matt Hyman ended the night with 1.46 million, leading two other players with seven-figure chip counts – Steffen Sontheimer (1.25 million) and Nick Schulman (1.05 million). A German-dominated final table rounds the rest of the group with Adrian Mateos (745,000), Koray Aldemir (660,000), Dominik Nitsche (635,000) and Stefan Schillhabel (570,000).
Negreanu finished in eighth place for $102,000 is a spot where could have been out or standing with the chip leaders. Schulman open-shoved holding king-jack of clubs and Negreanu called behind with a slightly larger stack holding pocket jacks. The board gave Schulman a runner-runner straight, Negreanu was left with peanuts and was eliminated the next hand.
