Poker Twitter Filled with #Positivity as 2019 WSOP is in Full Swing

Where’s the banter, trolling, and craziness at? Things are mellow for now on social media!

It seems like everyone has started the World Series on good terms, with less beef on ‘Poker Twitter’ than there was at Daniel Negreanu and Amanda Leatherman’s wedding. Maybe that’ll change in seven weeks time, but it’s hard not to smile when you see others so happy, and Day #2 of the 50th annual WSOP has continued in that vein.

BIG NAMES TOUCHING DOWN

Everyone wants to get in on the action as soon as they fly into Vegas, and Randy Lew is no different, having played the $10k Super-Turbo Bounty Event. ‘Nanonoko’ is pretty excited about the whole Vegas journey overall:

Here we go again! Every year I make the good ole 4hr drive from Los Angeles to #Vegas. It’s hard to believe that this year marks my 13th World Series of Poker (wow). Vegas has evolved to mean many different things to me. It’s played a role in so many aspects of my life; friendship-forming, risk-taking, carefree summer fun, career highlights, personal lows, relationship beginnings (and endings), professional divergence, inspiring artistic and culinary experiences, mistakes made, lessons learned and… of course, my fair share of drunken nights. #sorrynotsorry Each summer as I drive to Vegas, the 4hr drive gives me the chance to reflect – on where I’ve been, where I am now, and where I want to be. It’s taken some evolving, but today I am more focused on the experience, and less so on the outcome. That doesn’t mean that #bracelethunting has taken a backseat! But, I am more mindful of not letting #poker define me, or define the time I’ve spent here. I’m working towards being more present, recognizing the privilege it is to spend the summer taking a crack at the series, and enjoying the ride along the way. (And you #pokerplayers can attest to the ROLLER COASTER a Vegas WSOP summer is!) There’s something really special, and exciting about this time of year. This pilgrimage never gets old, even for a pro. Eager to see what the #WSOP has in store for me this year….. 📷: @zyngapoker

HELLMUTH ON THE MIC

With a lot of players in town early, the Gavin Smith Memorial Tournament was one such occasion where the goodness of poker players’ generosity was alighted upon, with 150time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth even providing ‘MC’ duties for the fundraiser for Gavin’s children.

EVEN THE BEST SEEK ADVICE

Having survived Day 1 of Event #4, the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better tournament, legendary vlogger and player Jason Somerville was happy with his progress, but not too proud to reach out to Benjamin Spragg for assistance in making it further.

Day #3 of the 50th annual World Series of Poker is sure to be a full one, with the final day of the $500 Casino Employees Event, Day 1a and 2a of the Big 50 – which could push us closer to a brand new worldwide tournament attendance record – and Day 2 of the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better to come, the Rio will be as full as ever before.
