Through the Lens: Imsirovic Arrives, Chidwick Thrives

High Roller Triple Crown champions are contending at the USPO

Heading into Day 7 of the 2019 US Poker Open and the headlines are all too similar to the 2018 USPO. Stephen Chidwick is doing what Stephen Chidwick does, making runs in everything and proving why he is one of the most elite players in the game today. Meanwhile, young phenomenon Ali Imsirovic captured the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em title for north of $440,000. Today, the USPO will crown a winner in the $25,000 Pot Limit Omaha. Chidwick holds a massive chip lead and Cary Katz tries for his first title, at his third final table of the series.

It’s only been a few months since Ali Imsirovic won the Purple Jacket at the 2018 Poker Masters and he is already back on top of another High Roller Triple Crown event. Imsirovic won Event 5 $25K NLH for over $442,000. This also boosts Imsirovic up the USPO leaderboard and with a few No Limit events left, he is certainly a threat.
Could the third time be a charm for Cary Katz? Today marks Katz third final table of this USPO, as he is fresh off his second place finish to Ali Imsirovic in Event 5. Katz, who considers himself a recreational PLO player, has now made both PLO final tables. Could today be the day Katz takes down his first USPO event?
Coming into today’s final table second in chips is no other than Anthony Zinno. Zinno already has a bracelet in the $25K High Roller PLO event at the series, and has his eyes set on achieving the same here at the USPO. He does face quite the stacked final table, but it will be interesting to see if Zinno’s experience can give him the upper hand.
Are you getting sick of seeing this guy? Me either. Stephen Chidwick is an absolute MONSTER on the felt. Perhaps the best tournament player in the world right now, Chidwick has been getting it done in all variants of poker this week. He will come into play today with a big edge chip wise, as he looks to regain the lead in the USPO points standing.
