When we reached the heads-up portion, I knew we were definitely in for a battle. What I did not know is that we were about to watch one of the most epic, and longest heads-up match in Main Event history. John Cynn and Tony Miles battled it out for over 10 hours of grueling poker. The swings were huge and the emotions were at an all-time high, making this heads-up battle an absolute blast to shoot.

We have a winner in the 2018 WSOP Main Event! After a grueling final day, John Cynn locked up an $8.8 million-score along with the most coveted bracelet in the game after beating Tony Miles heads up. Here’s a look at some of my favorite images of the final day.

Coming into three-handed play, Michael Dyer was far and away the shortest stack and in desperate need of a double. The first two hands off the deck Dyer moved all in, but neither time was called. Eventually Dyer stuck in his last 22 million holding ace-ten, but was unlucky to run into the ace-jack of Tony Miles. Dyer failed to improve and would hit the rail in third place, taking home $3,750,000.

After slipping in chips and losing the chip lead for the first time all night, Miles showed once again that he was all heart. Miles won a huge hand and scored a double when he turned trip-sixes against Cynn. The two put all the chips in the middle on the river, and Miles pulled back to even.

But in the end it was John Cynn who pulled through to win the Main Event! In disbelief, Cynn kneeled down, trying to realize what he had just accomplished before posing for the iconic winner photos.
