On Friday, the U.S. Poker Open debuted on PokerGO and Justin Bonomo claimed the Event #1 title. Bonomo came in as the six-handed chip leader and the event concluded with Bonomo in the $10,000 High Roller winner’s circle after a long heads up battle with Pierre Nadim. Today, the USPO will crown another champion, as the $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha final table is live on PokerGO.
Richard Kirsch will hope to replicate Bonomo’s wire-to-wire win from the opening event, as he holds the Event #2 lead heading into the final table. Kirsch has over 1 million chips more than his nearest competitor, Germany’s Rainer Kempe.
The Super High Roller Bowl champion joked on Twitter that he needed a crash-course in Pot Limit Omaha before the final table began. Kempe isn’t the only player at Saturday’s final table who is primarily known for his No Limit expertise.
A majority of Andjelko Andrejevic’s resume, which adds up to nearly $3.5 million in career earnings, have come in No Limit Hold’em events. The same can be said for Cary Katz. The PCA $100K Super High Roller winner has compiled stellar High Roller results over the last few years, but nearly all of his $13.7 million resume is from NLH events.
The opposite can be said about Anthony Zinno and Mike Gorodinsky. Zinno’s career-best score came from the 2015 World Series of Poker, when he won the $25,000 Pot Limit Omaha High Roller for just over $1.1 million. Gorodinsky won the 2015 Poker Players Championship for $1.2 million and a majority of his best tournament finishes have come in big buy-in mixed game events.
With a diverse group of No Limit Hold’em experts and players with more mixed game experience colliding at the Event #2 final table, there should be plenty of action when cards get in the air at 4:00 PM ET. The $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha final table will be the second of eight U.S. Poker Open events that will crown winners over the next week and a half. At the end of the series, the player that has cashed for the most combined money will be crowned U.S. Poker Open Champion.
Today’s final table has $179,200 awaiting the eventual champion and the player that claims that title will be in a good spot heading into the rest of the series. A complete list of the remaining Event #2 payouts is provided below:
