Sergio Aido Wins ARIA High Roller Event #16:$10,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $159,800
Sergio Aido survived a volatile final three players that saw the chip lead change hands back and forth over the last two levels of play to win ARIA High Roller Event #16:$10,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $159,800. Joining Aido in the final three players were Sean Winter and Matas Cimbolas.
Each player had the chip lead multiple times at the final table, thanks to quads making an appearance twice. Aido was the first to find quads when he moved into the chip lead to stay after rivering quad kings against the full house of Cimbolas. Two shuffles later, Winter found a double when his aces rivered quads against the sevens of Cimbolas.
After losing to quads twice in three shuffles, Cimbolas doubled two hands in a row to move back in front of Winter but well behind the nearly 3.1 million in chips of Aido. Winter would finish in third place when his queen-ten ran into the ace-king of Aido.
An hour earlier, the eliminations were fast and furious as Dylan Linde finished in 4th place when he shoved his last 150,000 into the middle only to be called by Winter, who proceeded to flop a full house to send Linde to the rail. Manig Loeser also fell victim to Winter when his pocket sevens fell to a runner-runner flush.
Aido picked up his first knockout of the final table when Jack Hardcastle shoved his short stack into the waiting arms of Aido’s aces to send Hardcastle home in sixth place.
Justin Saliba was the first of the final table members to hit the rail when Aido left him with only 20,000 in chips following a failed bluff. Saliba would fall victim to Winter two hands later when Winter made trip fours on the turn, sending Saliba home in seventh place.
Between the two of them, Aido and Winter combined for all six eliminations at the final table.
Event #16 saw a field of 47 entrants for a total prize pool of $4,700,000. Sean Perry was eliminated on the money bubble for the second event in a row after having the chip lead heading into eight-handed play. Perry was left short when Winter rivered trip aces and put in a huge check-raise taking the chip lead when Perry made the call leaving him only 175,000. Perry would head to the rail in eighth place shortly thereafter when his pocket nines ran into the pocket kings of Cimbolas.
