Four players have hit the rail since the start of Level 7 and chip leader Mike Watson was responsible for the last two eliminations.
In the first, Koray Aldemir ran his short stack into Watson’s nut flush and Joao Vieira was the next to hit the rail after running into pocket kings.
Watson opened to 8,000 from under the gun and after Luc Greenwood called in the small blind, Vieira shoved for close to 120,000. Watson re-shoved and Greenwood got out of the way, leaving Vieira at-risk with [AdQc] against [KsKd].
The Portuguese pro whiffed on the [8h4h3d] flop, but picked up additional outs after the [Qd] paired him on the turn. The [Js] wasn’t one of those outs and Vieira was eliminated.
As Vieira exited the tournament area, Sam Grafton was moved from Table 1 to Watson’s direct left to balance the remaining nine players. With late registration open for another three hours, Event #1 will continue to play at two different tables until eight players remain.
