With the two players just sitting down, George Wolff has immediately snatched the lead back in the heads-up, getting full value on the river having made the second nuts and then only dropping a little in the next hand to vault above Sam Soverel in the standings with an approximate lead of 2:1 in chips.
First blood to Wolff, can Soverel regain the power with an average stack of just 30 big blinds?

Stephen Chidwick has crashed out just before the heads-up here in Aspers Casino in London, as Sam Soverel entered the heads-up duel with a lead thanks to busting the Brit.
Chidwick defended with [KcQc9d6s], up against Soverel’s [KsJs4d3s], and the two men saw a dramatic flop of [KdKhJd] give Soverel a full house and Chidwick trip kings.
Both players checked, but on the [2c] turn, Chidwick used a time extension chip, before betting just 75,00 of his remaining 310,000-chip stack. Soverel merely called, setting up the river, and it landed [2d], which was enough to tempt Chidwick into a river bet of 230,000, and the all-in from Soverel saw Chidwick’s retained final chip go into the middle and then be moved over to Sam Soverel with the rest of them as the British player bowed out.
Just the two American players remain in the hunt for the second BPO title of the series.

Soverel Draws Close to Wolff
Sam Soverel has fought his way right up the mountain in this epic three-handed battle, and after raising pre-flop with [AsAhQhJc], was called by the chip leader George Wolff with [AdKh8c5h].
The flop of [8hThQd] saw both players check, but on the turn of [6d], Soverel, staring ahead at his opponent, bet 110,000 and George Wolff made a very quick call.
The river of [Qs] saw Soverel make trips, and he took down the pot on the river to go almost level with the leader.

Stephen Chidwick has over $32 million in live tournament winnings, but he plays like he’s after every dime and that hunger is a part of how the British poker legend has a way back into this Event #2 here at the British Poker Open.
All-in pre-flop for 305,000 with [KhKc5d4h], Chidwick was called by chip leader George Wolff, who had [JdJc7h2c]
The board of [Ad9h9cAs2h] saw Chidwick hold and there was a sweat for a jack on the river, but Chidwick – as ever – never looked worried as it didn’t come and he doubled up in full through the chip leader to 660,000, now just behind Sam Soverel. Both players have less than a third of Wolff’s stack despite that hand.

Chidwick Battling for His Life
George Wolff’s first cash in a Poker Central live event could yet be his first-ever tournament win for the high stakes cash game player. Can he shake off Stephen Chidwick and go heads-up to Sam Soverel?
Chidwick is unable to climb too far off the canvas at present without taking another hit. His latest effort to drive the action was a raise to 140,000 with [AhQsJdTs] on the button, but there were no takers for that bet and he remains the bottom stack.

Wolff Bears His Teeth

George Wolff, looking for his first ever live tournament victory, raised it up to 100,000 with [QsJhTh9d]. Soverel, holding [AcKhJd2h] made the call, and the flop of [5c3h9s] saw Sam Soverel with 60% equity, and on the turn [Jc] he bet 110,000. Wolff, however, made it 610,000 to go, a huge bet, and Soverel simply couldn’t pay to see a river.
In the next hand, Wolff went over 60% of the chips in play – and over 55 big blinds – as he called Sam Soverel’s raise to 125,000 pre-flop. So too did Stephen Chidwick and we went three to a flop.
Soverel: [AhQdJd5h]
Wolff: [Td9d7h6h]
Chidwick: [AsQc7s3c]
The flop came [8s3hKd] which prompted checks around the table to the turn of [7c]. That did get the action going, however, and Wolff, with the wrap, bet 220,000. Chidwick, holding bottom two pair, was “completely handcuffed” in the words of Brent Hanks, who is on commentary in the booth with Jeff Platt for this PokerGO final table.
Chidwick folded and so too did Soverel to see Wolff nudge himself – and himself alone – back over the two million chip mark, in his hunt for his maiden poker tournament title.
