Selahaddin Bedir flirted with the chip lead for most of the final table, eventually running hot at the right eliminating two of the last three players to take home $287,500 and the title in Bellagio High Roller Event #12: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em.
Bedir sent the players into the money when he eliminated Giuseppe Iadisernia with ace-jack against Iadisernia’s ace-ten to burst the money bubble and move into the chip lead for the first time at the final table, but the Turkish pro wouldn’t keep the chip lead for long.
Almost immediately after the money bubble burst, Bedir doubled up Vikenty Shegal when his ace-queen couldn’t run down the pocket jacks of Shegal. Bedir dropped to second in chips after the hand but would take back the chip lead a few hands later when he eliminated Ray Qartomy in fourth place. Bedir held pocket jacks against Qartomy’s pocket sixes, and the board ran out ace-high. Qartomy couldn’t find one of the two remaining sixes in the deck and headed to the rail to collect his $62,500 prize.
Rok Gostisa parlayed the chip lead to start the final table all the way to his fifth third place or better finish of the Five Diamond Poker Classic. The Slovenian pro finished in third place for $100,000 after running his ace-eight into the ace-king of Shegal, giving Shegal the chip lead to start heads up.
Heads-up was a back and forth affair as Bedir battled back to take the chip lead. At one point, Bedir moved into a four to one chip lead after picking off a Shegal bluff with top pair. Shegal wouldn’t go away quietly, though, and battled back to nearly dead even in chips before running his rivered straight into the turned straight of Bedir. Bedir had Shegal covered by approximately 200,000, and Shegal was sent out the door in second place for $175,000.
