Sung Joo “Arte” Hyun Wins Bellagio High Roller Event #3: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em

Sung Joo “Arte” Hyun started the heads-up match with Rok Gostisa at a five to one chip disadvantage but battled back, doubling up three consecutive times to take the chip lead and eventually the title of Bellagio High Roller #3: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $140,000.
Gostisa takes home $91,000 for his second-place finish but could not hold onto the chip lead and close out the tournament after eliminating Punnat Punsri in 3rd place to have 83% of chips in play when heads began. Gostisa lost two consecutive flips to start heads-up play and had ten outs to win the tournament but could not find an eight, jack, or ten on the river during the second all-in, holding jack-ten against Hyun’s ace-three to giving Hyun life.
Hyun took the chip lead for good a few hands later when we won another race, this time holding ace-ten against the pocket deuces of Gostisa. Hyun flopped top two, and the run to the title began.
Punsri held the chip lead for most of the day but lost a large portion of his stack to Gostisa at the start of three-handed play and would eventually fall to the Slovenian holding ace-deuce against Gostisa’s pocket tens. Punsri could not find an ace and finished in 3rd place for $56,000.
Ky Nguyen navigated a short stack on the bubble and would eventually fall in 4th place for $35,000 after having his ace-ten cracked by the queen-jack of Punsri. Punsri flopped two pair to eliminate the Nguyen and give him his largest career cash in his first high roller event.
Mark Hammond would be the first to fall in the money after having his queen-nine fail to improve against the pocket eights of Punsri to fall in 5th place for $28,000. Chance Kornuth fell on the direct money bubble when he got it all in holding ace-jack against the pocket nines of Punsri. Kornuth flopped a pair of jacks, but Punsri went runner-runner for a straight to send the three-time bracelet winner to the rail just shy of the money.
