Seng Yee Leow Leads Event #2 Into Final Day with $435,000 Up Top
The partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Super High Roller Series in Sochi has now seen the first day of Event #2: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em come to an end after almost twelve levels of play. Leading the remaining nine players into Day 2 is a regular to the High Roller Series as Seng Yee managed to bag the biggest stack of the night, carrying 2,830,000 to the final day.
Yee jumped into action early in the day and couldn’t seem to go more than a few hands without putting chips into the pot. The Malaysian native has over $7.5 million in live career earnings with his biggest cash coming right here in Sochi during the 2018 partypoker MILLIONS Russia, Sochi when he took down the ₽6,000,000 Triton Poker Super High Roller for $1,133,555 and it looks like he might be adding another feat to his resume as he heads into Day 2 with a monstrous chip lead.
Play began at 2 p.m. (MSK) with just two tables of players to start but by the end of late registration, the number had grown to a respectable 58 which accumulated a total prize pool of $1,450,000. Only the top nine were set to find a payday, securing at least a min-cash worth $43,500 with the last man standing taking home a hearty $435,000.
The tournament was scheduled to play down to the final six or until midnight hit and the bubble last so long that once it popped the tournament director called it a night. Unfortunately for Aleksey Gortikov, he was the last player to not find a payday, taking an exit as the bubble boy when his ace-seven failed to beat the pocket fours of Artur Martirosyan. All remaining players were then guaranteed a Day 2 birth and at least a min-cash for their efforts.
Headed into the final day in second on the leaderboard is England’s Sam Trickettafter hitting the max late registration line and spinning up a stack rather quickly. Trickett will be coming into the day closes to Yee and is the only other player that has a seven-figure stack. The England native is one of the most accomplished players that remains at the table, boasting over $21 million in live career earnings and will be hungry to secure his first Super High Roller Series win here in Sochi.
Rounding out the top three is Spain’s Adrian Mateos who will be entering Day 2 with 750,000 in chips. Mateos hit the half a million chip mark early in the day but couldn’t keep his red-hot start burning through the middle stages of this event as he coasted until the last few rounds of play where he jumped back to the top and now sits third headed into the final day. Mateos will look to leverage his stack around and show why he is number one on the all-time Spain money list with over $20 million in earnings.
The star-studded field brought out many big names and most failed to make the final day of this event but one fan-favorite player that did is Phil Ivey who will be bringing 475,000 into Day 2. Ivey is easily one of the most well-known players in the world, sporting a resume that would go down in history even if he stopped playing poker today. He is one of the short stacks to watch tomorrow as he looks to take down his second Super High Roller Series event and his first SHRS No-Limit Hold’em Event.
