The Two Chip Leaders Tangle
Phil Ivey, who’s tried to see a large number of flops already on this final table, limped again with [qdjd]. Cutoff Michael Soyza raised to 250,000 with [QhQs] and Ivey called. The two of them saw a flop of [AdAc7d], Ivey check-calling Soyza’s 150,000. Ivey turned his flush with the [6d], led for 400,000 and picked up the pot.
River Spike Doubles Davies
Seth Davies, who’d already picked up a pot after a timely preflop raise with [Ad8d], made it 450,000 to go holding [AdQc] after an under the gun limp from Michael Soyza with [Kdjh]. This was more than half his chips; when Sergi Reixach moved in on the button with [AcKc] he called straight away. After the turn, the board standing [As7cAhTc] it was looking ropey for the all-in player, but the river brought him the [Qs] and a full house to double up.

No Value for Ivey’s Quads
Phil Ivey and Sergi Reixach called pre once more (with [Khqh] and [Ts9d] respectively) and button Michael Soyza checked with [Ac8s]. Following exactly the same pattern as the last reported hand, there were two checks on the [Kc7h6c] flop and a bet (of 70,000) from the button, with Ivey alone making the call. Both players checked the [Kd] turn, and Ivey led out for 300,000 on the [Ks] river. No call.
Greenwood Makes Nut Flush
Phil Ivey called 50,000 under the gun with [KsQc], followed by Sergi Reixach ([AdQh]); Sam Greenwood checked the button with [As6s]. On the [9h7sTs] flop, it checked to Greenwood who bet 65,000 called by Ivey alone. Ivey checked the [8h] turn (which brought Greenwood a straight) and it was checked right back. The river brought the [9s] and a bluff lead from Ivey for 200,000. Greenwood waited a little while, then shoved with the nut flush for 735,000, prompting a quick fold.

The final table in Event #7 $50,000 Short Deck is set, after a robust turnout for the last tournament in this format at the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Super High Roller Series here in Sochi. A total of 55 entries generated a prize pool of $2,675,150, which started to be awarded last night with the eliminations of Thai Ha (8th for $107,000) and Dmitriy Kuzmin (7th for $133,760).
Payouts:
Place | Player | Prize |
1 | $856,050 | |
2 | $561,780 | |
3 | $374,520 | |
4 | $267,520 | |
5 | $214,010 | |
6 | $160,510 | |
7 | Dmitriy Kuzmin | $133,760 |
8 | Thai Ha | $107,000 |
The remaining six players, led by Michael Soyza, will be playing for the trophy and $856,050 first prize – and what a line-up it is. Phil Ivey lies second in chips, having narrowly missed taking down Event #5 this week (another $50,000 Short Deck), settling for second place (and $525,000) as Wai Kin Yong stormed to the title in a late-stage surge. Sergei Reixach and Lee Wai Kiat lurk just behind him, with Sam Greenwood and Seth Davies rounding out the considerable spread of talent on this final table.
Michael Soyza took his outdraw on the bubble of yesterday’s Event #6 $100,000 No Limit Hold’em with good grace and fortune has reversed its trend in the penultimate event of the Series in Russia. In fact, Soyza eliminated Stephen Chidwick on the bubble of this event and the Malaysian pro stands in good stead to add considerably to his $7.5 million in live tournament winnings – incredibly, a comparatively modest history given the extraordinary results of his tablemates, heavy hitters on the all-time money list.
Line-up in seat order:
Seat | Player | Chip Count | Antes |
1 | Sam Greenwood | 950,000 | 79 |
2 | Phil Ivey | 3,515,000 | 293 |
3 | Sergi Reixach | 2,915,000 | 243 |
4 | Michael Soyza | 5,120,000 | 427 |
5 | Lee Wai Kiat | 2,540,000 | 212 |
6 | Seth Davies | 855,000 | 71 |
