Hamilton’s Hand Dominates Preflop, Sends Him to the Rail Nonetheless
Ian Hamilton’s stack has been absorbed into that of James Romero, who with over 11 million is the current chip leader as the blinds rise to the point where they nip at the heels of the shorter stacks.
Preflop, button Romero opened to 200,000 and small blind Hamilton three-bet to 650,000. Romero asked how much he was playing behind (it was 1,735,000), then made the call.
Flop: [tc2skd]. Hamilton thought for just under a minute, then moved the rest of his chips forward. Romero made the call.
Romero: [QcJc]
Hamilton: [Adqd]
The [ts] on the turn was safe for Hamilton but the river brought the [9s] and a straight for Romero.

Grafton to Simao: “Don’t Let Them in Brazil Know You’re Folding Top Pairs”
![Sam Grafton (photo: Mickey May/partypoker)](https://storage.googleapis.com/pokercentral/2020/01/57bc37bf-100120_millionsuk_main_day2_231119_mm_138021_49361488253_o.jpg)
Sam Grafton opened the button and Joao Simao called from the big blind. On [6h2sAs], Simao check-called a bet before they both checked the [Qc] turn. The [Qh] saw Simao check again. Grafton bet 680,000 and Simao needed some time to make up his mind.
“I bluffed the flop, checked back the turn, and now hit trips on the river,” Grafton said for the room to hear. “I have a queen, I don’t understand why you want to call me with a six.”
Simao tanked some more, used a time extension card, and eventually folded, later claiming to have thrown away an ace.
“Write this down,” Grafton told us, “Because this would be the first time Joao has ever laid down top pair!”
Grafton wasn’t done just yet: “Don’t let them in Brazil know you’re folding top pairs. They won’t let you back in the country! The whole Brazilian economy could collapse if you’re folding top pairs now.”

Moene Exits
Jelle Moene was seen heading to the rail and was kind enough to tell us about his final hand.
After an under the gun raise and a call from the button, Moene over called from the big blind with [Tx7x] suited.
Moene, starting the hand with 25 big blinds, checked on [Tx6x2x] rainbow. The initial raiser checked as well but the button bet small. Moene called, the player under the gun folded.
On the [7c] turn, which brought a possible flush draw to the table with now two clubs, Moene led small. The button shoved and Moene called with his turned two pair. Unfortunately for the Dutch grinder, the button had [6x6x] for a set.
The [Qx] on the river was a blank and Moene said his goodbyes.

Rettenmaier Wins a Small One
Marvin Rettenmaier opened to 165,000 under the gun and Anton Suarez in the small blind called and Matthew Stone in the big blind called.
The flop of [Ad7s6c] was checked through and the [Jh] hit the turn. Suarez bet 410,000 and Stone folded. Rettenmaier called.
The [Ks] on the river saw both players check again and Suarez showed [Tc8c]. Rettenmaier took it down tabling [As9s]. Suarez is, despite losing the small pot, still one of the bigger stacks in the room.
