Sam Grafton was seen walking to the payout desk with a somewhat wry smile on his face. Still in good spirit, he explained what had happened.
From the hijack, Grafton opened [6s7s]. His opponent in the cutoff three-bet and Grafton called.
On [Tc8c5s], Grafton checked. His neighbor made a continuation bet of seventy percent pot and Grafton shoved with his open-ended and backdoor flush draw. The cutoff called with [AcAx].
Neither the turn or river brought the much-needed help for Grafton and he exited in 31st place for $35,000 shortly thereafter.

Roberto Romanello Eliminated
![Roberto Romanello (photo: Mickey May/partypoker)](https://storage.googleapis.com/pokercentral/2020/01/8cf60635-49367255256_e65b023474_c.jpg)
Roberto Romanello was seen sitting on an empty table close to the Main Event. We asked him what had happened for him to get eliminated.
Up to a stack fo 19 million, Romanello saw the button shove for 5.9 million. With [AxQx] in the small blind, Romanello looked his opponent up and turned out to be way ahead as he was up against [QxTx]. Unfortunately for Romanello, his opponent hit a ten.
The next hand, Romanello got it in with [AxKx] against the [KxQx] offsuit of Maria Lampropulos in a 13 million pot. Romanello hit an ace but Lampropulos made a flush on the river.
Both Roberto’s brothers are still in. Roberto Romanello contemplates entering the $10,300 High Roller Finale.

Clarke Busts Wiborg, Thanks Geilich
It folded round to Andreas Wiborg on the button, who moved all in for 6,700,000. Small blind James Clarke gave it a ponder, then made the call. He showed down [asjd], dominating the [ac7s] of Wiborg. No help from the deck on the [2h4h4ckhtd] board and Wiborg busted in 34th, collecting $34,000.
“Thanks,” said Clarke, to tablemate Ludovic Geilich. “I’ll pay you later.”
Benjamin Chalot asked why he was thanking Geilich, to which he replied, “I’m getting lessons.”
“I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic,” lamented Geilich.

Suarez Checks the Nuts

A lot of chips flew in preflop between button Georgy Philippovich and big blind Anton Suarez, with the final bet being 4,800,000 to see a flop (from Suarez). After Philippovich called, they checked a flop of [tdqhjs] to get to a [kc] turn. Suarez checked again, and called when Philippovich fired 2,300,000. On the [8s] river, both players checked once more, Suarez instantly turning over [ahac] for a Broadway straight (twice).

Lampropulos Loses Some
Maria Lampropulos opened under the gun for 700,000 and saw Christian Rudolph on her left three-bet to 1.7 million. The action folded back around to Lampropulos and she called.
Lampropulos check-called another 1,325,000 on [Qh6d2s] before the two checked down the [5h] on the turn and [8c] on the river.
Lampropulos showed [AsKc] but had to concede the pot to Rudolph who tabled [7s7c].

Open spot on the button plus the short stack equalled a jam from Jeff Gross on the feature table just now with [qcth]. Small blind (and healthier stacked) Oskar Prehm thought for a while, then re-raised all in, getting it heads up holding [kdjc].
The board ran out [7cas3d7d8h]; Gross finished in 36th place ($30,000).

Niall Farrell Eliminated
The last time we reported on Niall Farrell, he had just knocked out Adrian Mateos and was up to 10 million in chips. Next time we saw him, he was signing up for the $10,300 high roller having been knocked out of the Main Event minutes before.
Farrell told us how he lost a bot where he three-bet and continuation bet, only to have to give up. Not much later, down to 13 big blinds, he shoved the button with [5c4c]. Carlos Chadha in the small blind woke up with [AxKx] and had Farrell “dead on the turn.”

Farrell Busts Mateos
Nicholas Romanello opened for 650,000 under the gun and his neighbor Niall Farrell called. From the cutoff, Adrian Mateos shoved for a million exactly. The button and blinds got out of the way and Romanello called with about seven million behind.
Farrell shoved and Romanello open folded his [TdTh].
Niall Farrell: [JcJh]
Adrian Mateos: [2s2h]
The board ran out [9s5c7h] [Js] [3s] and Mateos headed for the payout desk. He can still buy in for the $10,300 High Roller Finale if he so pleases.
