It’s not been Alex Foxen’s (pictured) morning. With the addition of starting-stack-wielding Steve O’Dwyer to his table (in position as Kurganov was), there followed a gigantic pot, reversing Foxen’s Day 1 trend of accumulation and leaving him skirting the felt.
Foxen opened preflop under the gun for 80,000, button O’Dwyer raised to 200,000. Small blind Yair Bitoun called, as did Foxen, to see a [8h2d8c] flop. Check to O’Dwyer, who bet 170,000, called by Foxen alone.
The turn: [3c]. Check to O’Dwyer again, who bet 700,000 (around the size of the pot), leaving himself just 20,000 behind. A good think, and Foxen committed most of his stack, too, leaving a final, smaller, check-call for the [7d] river. Showdown – and one of the biggest so far today:
