Event #5: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em of the 2022 PokerGO Cup played out until just after midnight at the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the 41-entrant field was whittled down to six players in the money who will be sharing the prize pool of $1,025,000.
Bill Klein finished the day as the chip leader with 1,695,000 in chips and will have his eyes set on the $369,000 first-place prize. Klein started the day at the final table of Event #4 and will be looking to improve upon his fourth-place finish there on Monday’s final table stream.
Sean Winter (1,395,000) made an unlikely comeback near the end of the day to finish in his current position. He came into the unofficial final table as the short stack, and was down to only two big blinds half an hour before the end of the day. He went on a run and eventually eliminated Justin Saliba on the money bubble to hold the second-highest stack going into the final day.
Joining Klein and Winter at the final table include Ali Imsirovic (1,060,000), Nick Petrangelo (1,000,000), Darren Elias (620,000), and Nick Schulman (385,000). The final six have locked up $51,250 in prize money but the $369,000 top prize will be the highest goal for these players.
Defending PokerGo Cup Champion Daniel Negreanu had another unfortunate day in the series, as he still is yet to cash despite several deep runs, which include an elimination on the bubble in Event #4. In Event #5, he made it to the final two tables but ran out of gas and ran into Elias’ pocket kings.
Not long after that, the unofficial final table of nine was set and Sergi Reixach ended up being the first player eliminated there when he ran into Imsirovic’s better ace. After that, no less than eight double-ups occurred. Included in this time span is Winter’s rollercoaster ride where many times he appeared to be the most likely to fall next, but that time did not come.
Nearly three hours later, Event #4 winner Jeremy Ausmus wasn’t able to improve against Imsirovic and was eliminated in eighth. Soon after, Justin Saliba ran into Winter’s superior pocket-pair and was eliminated on the bubble. The remaining six players had officially made the money and bagged their chips to return for the streamed final table.

Sean Winter opened to approximately 170,000 under the gun and Nick Schulman jammed for 345,000 from one seat over. Action folded back to Winter who mulled over his decision.
“You’re the last person I wanted to jam,” Winter said.
After using a couple of time extensions, Winter decided to fold his hand.
“I had it,” Schulman said as he put his cards face down into the muck.
“I know you f—— had it,” Winter replied, while Schulman added the chips to his stack.
