Sean Winter was second in chips to start the final table, but after knocking out Jason Koon in ninth place on the first hand, Winter took the chip lead and never let go as he leads the final five of Event #6: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em with 1.785 million chips.
Winter would solidify his chip lead when he eliminated Chris Brewer in seventh place. With the board reading [Ah7d3s6s3h], approximately 400,000 in the middle Winter moved all-in for 305,000 having Brewer covered. Brewer used his final two time extensions and called with ace-nine. Winter tabled pocket sevens for a full house and sent Brewer out the door in seventh place.
Hot on Winter’s heels is Vikenty Shegal, who eliminated Jeremy Ausmus in sixth place to burst the money bubble and send the players home for the evening. Ausmus six-bet shoved from the small blind for approximately 600,000 with pocket aces, and Shegal called from under the gun plus one with pocket queens. A queen on the flop sealed Ausmus’s fate, and Shegal bagged 1.630 million. Ausmus just misses out on his third streamed final table in four events but still sits atop the PokerGO Cup Standings with 407 points.
Rounding out the final table are Brock Wilson in third with 950,000, defending PokerGO Cup Champion Daniel Negreanu in fourth with 510,000, and Stephen Chidwick is the short stack with 385,000 after clawing his way back from just 16,000 just after the close of registration.
The 35-entrant field created a prize pool of $875,000, and the final five players have all locked up a cash of at least $61,250, with the winner walking away with $350,000. Wilson is the only player at the final table in the top ten of the current PokerGO Cup Standings and will need a second place or higher finish to pass Ausmus and move into the points lead with two events to go.
Other notables to make a deep run but come up just shy of the money included Cary Katz (8t), Bill Klein (10th), Andrew Lichtenberger (11th), and Jake Schindler (12th).
