Welcome back to the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown for Day 2 of the $25,000 buy-in High Roller from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Records have been smashed at Seminole this week in both the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Main Event that attracted 2,482 entrants while the $50,000 buy-in Super High Roller had 42 entrants.
In the $25,000 High Roller, a record field of 145 entrants broke the previous best by nearly three tables as a prize pool of over $3.5 million would be created. The final 20 players would finish in-the-money, while the first-place prize would be $970,600. The returning 24 players on Day 2 will have to fade four eliminations to be guaranteed the $44,770 min-cash, and the best player situated to make a deep run is Chris Brewer who finished as the chip leader with 1,895,000.
Brewer was the Day 1 chip leader in the $50,000 Super High Roller before finishing in third-place, and if things go his way today, he’ll look to best that finish by two places while simultaneously move into the lead on the PokerGO Tour leaderboard. Sitting second in chips is Sean Perry with 1,630,000 who currently holds second place on the PokerGO Tour leaderboard with one win and seven cashes.
The 145-entrant field was the biggest ever for a $25,000 buy-in tournament at Seminole which continued the record-setting of the week following the record-setting WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Main Event field of 2,482 entrants, and the 42-entrant $50,000 Super Higher Roller that concluded on Thursday with Arthur Conan winning $733,320 in prize money
The other players rounding out the top five chip counts as the only players in the seven-figure club included Chad Eveslage (1,540,000), Darren Elias (1,260,000), and Byron Kaverman (1,185,000). Other notable players surviving into Day 2 included Aaron Van Blarcum, Cary Katz, Ali Imsirovic, Will Failla, Brock Wilson, Sean Winter, Tim Reilly, and Isaac Baron.
