Chris Brewer Leads the Final Six of Event #4: $8,000 No-Limit Hold’em
After nearly 11 hours of play, Chris Brewer leads the final six of Event #4: $8,000 No-Limit Hold’em, holding almost 30% of the chips in play.
Joining Brewer at the final table are Salim Admon, Jesse Lonis, Jeremy Ausmus, Bill Klein, and Nick Petrangelo.
Ausmus made the final table in Event #2 and Lonis made the final table in Event #3. In each of those tournaments, they finished in sixth, and both will be looking to improve upon that in this event.
The 56-entrant field created a prize pool of $448,000 and awarded the top eight finishers with a min-cash of $22,400, which includes a seat into Event #5: $15,000 No-Limit Hold’em. The top six are guaranteed at least $31,360 and the seat but have their eyes fixed on the first-place prize of $138,880.
Falling just shy of the final six was Shannon Shorr, who saw his tournament come to an end when he got his remaining chips in on the flop and was ahead with a pair, but Lonis turned a flush to eliminate him in seventh place for $26,880, which he will look to improve upon during Event #5.
Michael Lang was the other player to make it into the money, as he finished in eighth place for $22,400 when he got his short stack in with a suited ace and ran into Shorr’s ace-king, which improved to a boat.
Nathan Zimnik just missed out on the cash and the seat when he ran his ace-king into Admon’s pocket jacks and failed to improve, bursting the bubble and sending the rest of the players into the money. Zimnik had made the final table and finished in third place in Event #3 to gain his entry into this event, but just missed out on climbing the “stairway” even higher.
