Day 1 of Super High Roller Bowl Europe has come to a conclusion with Sam Greenwood finishing as the chip leader fresh off his runner-up finish in Event #6 for $473,000. Greenwood was one of the late entrants on Day 1 and quickly pushed his chip stack to the top of the leaderboard as he bagged 757,000 in chips.
Trailing Greenwood includes Teun Mulder (560,000), Elton Tsang (551,000), and Ali Imsirovic (524,000) as the only players over half a million in chips. Phil Ivey has a huge lead on the Super High Roller Series Europe leaderboard and finished 17th overall with 220,000 in chips with this event attracting the lion’s share of PGT points that could make the difference in who wins the Super High Roller Series Europe Championship and $25,000 championship bonus.
Just 22 players remain following the conclusion of Day 1 in the $250,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl Europe, but for the two players eliminated, and all those yet to take a seat, registration is open until the start of Day 2 on Thursday, April 14, at 1 p.m. local time.
The second running of Super High Roller Bowl Europe kicked off with players spread over three tables as Artur Martirosyan would be an early casualty when he was eliminated by Jake Schindler after his ace-king failed to improve against the American’s kings. Following the conclusion of Event #6, Greenwood immediately jumped into the field to prompt the opening of a fourth table while 22 players headed to dinner with Martirosyan on top after winning a pot to head to break against Chris Brewer with the nut flush against Brewer’s queen-high flush.
Once play resumed, Brewer and Elton Tsang were eliminated, while Event #6 winner and Super High Roller Bowl Bahamas champion Daniel Dvoress entered the field. Marius Gierse and Tsang both worked their way up the leaderboard and would soon be joined by Super High Roller Bowl VI champion Michael Addamo. As play entered the final level, Greenwood held the chip lead and carried that through to when play ended for Day 1 following the conclusion of six levels.
Greenwood finished with 757,000 in chips ahead of Mulder, Tsang, and Imsirovic, while previous Super High Roller Bowl champions including Christoph Vogelsang, Cary Katz, Timothy Adams, and Dvoress all survived into Day 2. With the field having reached 31 entrants, that number is expected to climb as registration is open through to the start of Day 2 on Thursday, April 14, at 1 p.m. local time.

Chidwick on the Rise
Stephen Chidwick has been bouncing back. A short while ago, he was seen doubling through Artur Martirosyan with jack-nine on a board that gave him a full house on the turn. That helped Chidwick vault over 200,000.
Chidwick’s push didn’t stop there. He’s now up to 315,000 thanks to a hand that was caught on the flop.
The board read [Jh3c2c] and Teun Mulder checked from the big blind. Chidwick checked from under the gun and Laszlo Bujtas made it 9,000 from the button. Mulder check-raised to 40,000 and Chidwick paused. He burned a time extension and then reraised to 75,000. Both of his opponents folded.

Seth Davies Eliminated by Teun Mulder
Seth Davies and Teun Mulder stuffed it in preflop, with Davies at risk for around 120,000.
Davies: [KsKh]
Mulder: [AhQs]
Mulder spiked an ace on the turn of the [TcJc3hAc7d] board and eliminated Davies from the tournament.

Artur Martirosyan Shoves on Laszlo Bujtas
Stephen Chidwick raised under the gun, Artur Martirosyan flatted behind him, and Laszlo Bujtas squeezed to 30,000 from the button. Chidwick folded and Martirosyan called.
Martirosyan check-called 58,000 on [6c9s4h].
The turn came [Ac] and Martirosyan checked again. Bujtas sized his second barrel at 42,000 and Martirosyan responded with a check-shove. Bujtas let it go.

Elton Tsang Sweats a Freeroll
Elton Tsang raised from the cutoff, Jason Koon three-bet to 40,000 from the big blind, Tsang shoved, and Koon called.
Koon: [AhKd]
Tsang: [AcKc]
The board came [5s8cTh2c], giving Tsang a sweat. But the [4d] river was harmless for Koon and they chopped the pot.

Christoph Vogelsang Rivers the Winner
With the board reading [Jd4cAdQd], Nick Petrangelo checked from the big blind and Christoph Vogelsang bet 34,000 into 83,500 from the cutoff. Petrangelo called.
The river was the [Td] and Petrangelo tanked for a while before he checked. Vogelsang checked back.
“Ace,” announced Petrangelo, but Vogelsang waited until Petrangelo turned the [Ah5s]. Vogelsang then opened the [Kc8c] for a rivered straight.
“Good job,” said Petrangelo and the two debated about Petrangelo’s temptation to front-shove the river, which, Petrangelo thought, would have worked out.

Chris Brewer Doubles Through Jake Schindler
There was around 70,000 in the pot when Chris Brewer and Jake Schindler reached the betting round on the [JdJhTd7s] turn. Brewer checked from the small blind, letting Schindler fire 39,000. Brewer then check-raised to 90,000, leaving himself 88,000 behind.
Schindler burned four time extensions and then jammed. Brewer called right away and Schindler sighed.
Brewer: [KsJc]
Schindler: [KdQc]
The [6h] river secured the double for Brewer.
