Jason Koon Leads $250,000 Super Higher Roller Bowl Russia into Day 2
The partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Super High Roller Series in Sochi, Russia has now seen Day 1 of the $250,000 Super High Roller Bowl Russia come to an end after five 90-minute levels of play. The first and only $250,000 event of the series pulled in 34 entry slips on Day 1 with more to come as late registration is still open until the start of level 7 on Day 2.
The biggest stack headed into the second day is Jason Koon who is one of the best players in the world with no need for explanation. Koon has been off to a cold start during the series but it just seems that he has been saving it all for the Main Event. He will be starting Day 2 with 745,000 and will be looking to add one more feat to a resume that eclipsed the $30 million mark last year.
A familiar face is nipping at the heels of Koon as Paul Phua will be headed into the second day with 666,500 after busting all-time money list leader Bryn Kenney during the last few hands of the night when he pocket queens landed a straight to crack the aces of Kenney. Phua has already landed four final tables this week and secured his first career Super High Roller Series victory in Event #6: $100,000 NLH for an outstanding $1,512,000.
Another standout player to find a top-ten stack is Phil Ivey who has been destroying the series as of late. Ivey just went back-to-back in each $50,000 Short Deck event, first and second respectively. He is considered to many as the best to play the game and will be on everyone’s radar tomorrow as he looks to continue his heater, starting Day 2 with 455,000.

A few familiar faces that took a shot on Day 1 but failed to advance include Bryn Kenney, Wai Leong Chan, and Richard Yong. All three failed to advance but will more than likely be jumping in for Day 2 in the hopes of running up a stack to take a shot at this monstrous prize pool.
Play began at 5 p.m. (MSK) with 26 players to start the day and by the end of the night came around there was a total of 34 entry slips sold. That total created a prize pool of $8,500,000 and that number is sure to climb as another full level of late registration is still open on Day 2. The final prize pool and payouts will be posted as soon as they are announced at the conclusion of late registration.
The second day of the Super High Roller Bowl Russia will begin at 2 p.m. (MSK) and a feature table will be running from the start of the day, putting all updates on a 30-minute delay to coordinate with the stream.

Paul Phua Sends the Best in the World to the Rail
Bryn Kenney and Paul Phua each had all over their chips in the middle with their cards face-up with Kenney have the lesser amount, totaling 270,000.

Kenney was well in front with his aces and the [jh8d7d] turn was of no worry to him. A [9c] turn brought a straight draw for Phua and the unlikely [td] landed on the river, completing the straight as Phua scooped in the pot and Kenney took a late exit during the last level of the night.

Ivan Leow Takes Down a Late Pot
Matthias Eibinger opened to 9,000 from middle position and Ivan Leow three-bet to 37,000 in the big blind. Eibinger called and the dealer spread out [kd4d2d] on the flop.
Leow bet 18,000, Eibinger called and the [8c] landed as a turn card. Leow fired in 33,000, Eibinger called and the [5c] completed the board.
Leow bet again, this time for 55,000 and again Eibinger called. Leow tabled [acks] and Eibinger mucked, sending the pot to Leow.

Lady Luck Finds Adrian Mateos
Jason Koon opened to 10,000 from the cutoff, Alexey Rybin called in the small blind and Adrian Mateos three-bet to 45,000 in the big blind. Both Koon and Rybin called to see the [5c3d2c] flop.
Action checked to Mateos who pushed all in, totaling 201,000 and Koon quickly folded. Rybin thought for a brief moment but slammed in the chips to call shortly after, putting Mateos at risk.

Artur Martirosyan Sends Kahle Burns Out the Door
The turned board read [6h5s4c9d] and there was 52,000 in the pot. Artur Martirosyan pushed his 275,000 stack into the middle with just Kahle Burns left behind who had a stack of 69,000.
Burns took his time but in the end, elected to call his stack into the middle and was in rough shape. Martirosyan tabled [7h7c] for a pair of sevens with the straight draw and was well in front of Burns’ [kd6s], having just a pair of sixes.
The [qd] river sealed the deal for Martirosyan who sent Burns to the rail.

Michael Soyza opened to 9,000 from under the gun, Bryn Kenney called on the button and Christoph Vogelsang defended his big blind.
The dealer fanned out [8c4h3h] on the flop and all three players checked to the [2h] turn card. Vogelsang led out for 22,000 and Soyza was the only player to call.

Christoph Vogelsang Lands a River vs. Seth Davies
