Ben Heath Leads Super High Roller Bowl Final Set to Award $10 Million
A cliff-hanger for the poker history books is in effect tonight after the Super High Roller Bowl Main Event has ended Day 2 with seven players remaining, one of whom will leave without a share in the $10,000,000 prize pool. After a twelve hour day at the tables, none of these players – all of whom have put on a show on the PokerGO livestream representative of the elite level at which they play – wants to be the one out on the bubble, having outlasted most of a 40-strong field.

Out in front lies the UK’s Ben Heath, who made accumulation and retention of a big stack look all but seamless in the early stages. His compatriot Stephen Chidwick (6th worldwide in tournament winnings overall), at one point in contention for the chip lead himself, had a less fortunate end of day experience and brings up the rear of the chip counts with 14 big blinds. The structure of this event is such that deep stacks have been the rule throughout, allowing for some creative and thoughtful play. Just one example was the start of day triple barrel bluffing with queen-high employed by Timothy Adams, who emptied the clip all in and at risk like this twice within the first level to build a stack that’s still with him now.

The way to the final was littered with the empty chairs of tough opponents, like yesterday’s $50,000 Short Deck champion Phil Ivey, repeat partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Super High Roller Series Sochi finalists Cary Katz and Paul Phua (Event #6 winner), Luc and Sam Greenwood and Bryn Kenney.
Adrian Mateos, the top of Spain’s all-time money list (just as partypoker Pro Mikita Badziakouski is of Belarus’s) had a late stage surge in chips and ends the day nearly neck and neck with Christoph Vogelsang, who is looking to win his second Super High Roller Bowl title. Combined poker earnings on this final run to nine figures; expect the fight for the title to be one to remember.

Double on the Bubble for Adams
Preflop, Christoph Vogelsang raised to 45,000 with [Jh8h] and ran into escalating pairs: [7d7s] for Ben Heath, [TsTh] for Stephen Chidwick and [AdAs] for big blind Timothy Adams. Adams three-bet to 200,000, called by Chidwick alone. On the [9d8c5d] flop, Chidwick checked, Adams bet 150,000 and Chidwick started feeding timebank cards forward. Finally, he set Adams all in (500,000) and Adams called swiftly. The turn and river were both black threes and Chidwick, once chip leader, is now the shortest on the final.

Chip Leader Fight
Ben Heath and Adrian Mateos, in the one-two spots in the chip counts currently, are not afraid to tangle. Heads up on a [7hKs8s] flop, Heath, with [5s7s], check-called a bet from Mateos who had hit top pair with [KhJh]. Both players checked the [Ts] turn. The river paired the [Th] and Heath now checked his turned flush, Mateos bet 150,000 and Heath bumped it up to 625,000. Mateos folded.

Big Hands Not Getting Paid
Adrian Mateos raised preflop to 45,000 with [As8s]. Christoph Vogelsang in the big blind looked down at [AhAd] and three-bet to 250,000, but Mateos came no further.
A short while later Timothy Adams made it 45,000 to go preflop with [JdTc], called by big blind Mikita Badziakouski with the same hand, only suited in spades. Badziakouski flopped a flush with [5sKs3s] and check-raised Adams (30,000 to 90,000) but Adams declined to call.
Sam Greenwood Eliminated in 8th Place – Now On Bubble Worth $600,000
Stephen Chidwick opened preflop for 40,000 with [AhQs], called by Christoph Vogelsang in position with [JdJc]. Big blind Sam Greenwood, and table short stack with 290,000, moved in with [AsQd]. Chidwick passed the same hand and Vogelsang quickly made the call, flopping a set of jacks that held over the full runout of [6d5h7d5hAd]. The long and hard-fought eight handed battle has come to an end; get ready for a long and hard-fought seven-handed battle because we are on the bubble.

Greenwood with a Four Timebank Card Decision
Threeway to a flop of [Ac3cQd], blinds Sam Greenwood ([Ah9h]) and Ivan Leow ([Qs4s]) checked to preflop raiser Ben Heath. He bet 45,000 with [KcTc], called by both players. All three checked the [3s] turn. The [7c] brought in Heath’s flush. It checked to him again and he bet a hefty 300,000 (275,000 in the pot). This bet covered Greenwood, who burned through no fewer than four time extension cards before finally throwing his hand away (Leow passed without doing this).

Flop: [TdTs7s]. Mateos check-called a bet from Chidwick of 40,000 (Greenwood folding). The turn slowed everything down a little, both players checking the [Kh]. On the [4h] river Mateos led for 155,000 and Chidwick called; they split a little bit of Greenwood’s money.
