Cary Katz Doubles in a Hand That Puzzled Phil Ivey
Cary Katz and Phil Ivey limped and Chris Brewer moved all in. Katz called and the action stopped at Ivey.
“How much is that?” Ivey asked, pointing at Katz’ stack. Katz had 592,000, just a little more than Ivey. Brewer had them both covered.
Ivey tanked for a couple of minutes, burning several timebanks.
“I think I know what you have,” Elton Tsang said while Ivey was trying to figure out his move.
“Not quite what you think,” Ivey replied.
Eventually, Ivey decided to let his hand go.
Katz: [QhQs]
Brewer: [AhKc]
The board came down [9c9sJd8sTh] and Katz doubled up as a few players from the other table came to sweat the runout.
“Ten-eight of clubs,” Ivey announced, putting an end to the hand that saw Katz vault over the 1-million mark.
