Danny Tang Leads Event #5 with Commanding Chip Lead
Only five players remain in Event #5: $50,000 Short Deck at the 2022 Super High Roller Series Europe. Day 1 saw a field of 32 entries come out to battle at Merit Royal Hotel Casino & Spa in North Cyprus, generating a $1,600,000 prize pool with a $640,000 top prize. Leading the way after Day 1 is Danny Tang, and he bagged up quite an impressive chip lead with more chips than the other four players combined.
Tang finished Day 1 with 5,100,000 in chips. Lun Loon is second with 2,300,000, Jason Koon is third with 1,165,000, Paul Phua is fourth with 625,000, and Seth Davies is fifth with 500,000. The final five players are all in the money and guaranteed $112,000 in prize money.
To finish Day 1, Cary Katz was eliminated on the money bubble when his pocket queens lost to Loon’s king-jack thanks to a king on the flop.

Tang is making his fifth cash between Triton Poker Cyprus and Super High Roller Series Europe, but he’s still looking for his first victory. With the chip lead he has entering Day 2 of Event #5: $50,000 Short Deck, the trophy is very much Tang’s to lose.
Koon returns for Day 2 third in chips, and he’s also making his fifth cash of the joint tournament festival. Koon is currently fourth on the Super High Roller Series Europe leaderboard with 700 points. He already has 67 more locked up and could gain a total of 384 points should he go on to win.
Seth Davies enjoyed a bit of success last year in North Cyprus, but he’s only making his first cash with this run. Davies is the shortest stack returning for Day 2 but could easily turn things around given the excitement a short deck poker tournament brings.
The final five players are scheduled to return to the Merit Royal Hotel Casino & Spa in North Cyprus on Tuesday, April 12, for play to begin at 1 p.m. local time. With the elimination of Cary Katz in 6th place, the play has concluded for the day. The remaining players will return on Tuesday, April 12, at 1 p.m. local time (6 a.m. ET), to play it down to the winner. The remaining players are guaranteed to pick up at least $112,000 and the winner will bank $640,000. The final day will be aired on the PokerGO YouTube channel.

Cary Katz Bubbles SHRS Europe Event #5: $50,000 Short Deck
Cary Katz shoved his six button antes or so and Lun Loon looked him up from the button.

Loon caught a king on the [TdAhKh] flop and the rest of the board came [Ad] and [6d]. Katz was eliminated in 6th place, bubbling the second Short Deck event at the festival.

Lee Wai Kiat Eliminated in 7th Place
Lee Wai Kiat acted second preflop and he jammed for 1,360,000. Danny Tang reshoved from the cutoff, and several “wows” were heard around the table.

The tournament is now on a stone bubble and Day 1 will continue until it will have burst.

Lun Loon Overshoves on Danny Tang
Lun Loon (under the gun) and Danny Tang (button) were on a [ThJsAh] flop with more than 300,000 in the middle. Loon shoved 2,015,000 and Tang couldn’t believe it.
“Oh my god, you so have ace-king. Ace-king is drawing dead against me,” Tang talked while shaking his head as he had Loon just covered.
“You’re s****ing your pants, you so want me to fold,” Tang continued, agonized by the situation near the bubble.
Tang burned all timebanks and just before his clock expired, he released his hands, which Jason Koon confirmed was the [TxTx]. Loon showed the [JhJc].
