Event #1: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em of the 2022 U.S. Poker Open took center stage at the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the 93-entrant field created a prize pool of $930,000.
Following a full day of play, Japan’s Masashi Oya leads the final six players into Thursday’s streamed final table with a sizable stack of 4,325,000 chips. Shannon Shorr (2,340,000) and Ren Lin (1,705,000) are next on the leaderboard, while Daniel Negreanu (1,550,000), Erik Seidel (1,240,000), and Joseph Cheong (565,000) also bagged and will return for the final table.
Oya accumulated a large stack early on in the day and added to it when eliminating Alex Foxen on the bubble by flopping a set of jacks over Foxen’s kings. The 14 remaining players earned themselves a piece of the prize pool, and soon after, only nine players remained and they converged on a single table.
Rok Gostisa was the first to fall there when running into Lin’s flopped set of eights, and Nick Schulman made his exit next after finding himself up against Shorr’s superior ace. Soon after, Kristina Holst found a short-stacked double through Seidel’s aces, but ultimately lost a flip to Negreanu to end her run in seventh place, and the remaining players bagged and tagged for the night.
The remaining players have locked up $55,800, but all eyes are on the $213,900 first-place prize. Negreanu is the only player at the final table currently in the top ten on the 2022 PokerGO Tour Leaderboard, and he has the opportunity to move up from tenth to sixth on those standings if he can pull out a victory.
