We are officially in the money for Event #1 of the 2019 U.S. Poker Open. Sam Soverel was eliminated on the bubble by defending U.S. Poker Open Champion Stephen Chidwick.
Chidwick opened the action to 40,000 and Soverel three-bet to 175,000. Chidwick called and the two saw a flop of [Kc9d8s].
Soverel bet 70,000 on the flop and Chidwick once again came behind with a call. After [Jd] hit the turn, both players checked to the river, which was the [5s].
Soverel led for 190,000 and Chidwick used the duration of his time and spent a time extension card before moving in for the rest of Soverel’s stack. After a brief tank, Soverel called for all of his chips.
Chidwick tables pocket nines for a set and Soverel mucked his hand and left the tournament in 14th place.
