Bryn Kenney Absolutely Crushes Final Table Wins Event #7
Event #7 of the 2019 U.S. Poker Open was won by Bryn Kenney who made quick work of his final table opponents, finishing the tournament in a little over an hour and taking home $450,000. Kenney jumps into fourth place on the U.S. Poker Open Championship standings with 240 points, which is lead by Stephen Chidwick with 540 points.
Kenney capped his tremendous final table run off by busting Jake Schindler heads up. In Schindler’s defense, there wasn’t much he could do as Kenney entered the heads up match with an almost ten-to-one chip lead. Schindler earned $300,000 for second place despite winning just one hand at the entire final table.
“This feels good. Last year was the only losing year I’ve ever had in my poker career and I felt as though I needed to follow it up with a home run year like I did in 2017,” Kenney said, now having won both the Aussie Millions Main Event and this U.S. Poker Open to start off the year strong.
“It’s fun, the best thing is to win nice trophies in poker and this one looks great. It would make for a nice mantlepiece,” Kenney said about his chances in the overall U.S. Poker Open Championship race.
“The series if perfect but I’ve learned to know and understand myself. Playing 11 days straight is not good for me, I get burnt out easily. I skipped both PLO events and bought in late for the last $25k event because when I play for long days in a row I do a lot of thinking and get burnt out easily,” Kenney said, motivated about the final events of this series.
The action started quickly as Kenney eliminated Nick Petrangelo in sixth place ($90,000). Petrangelo shoved the small blind with jack-high and Kenney called with king-high. Kenney held on to win and send Petrangelo to the rail.
Then Nick Schulman fell in fifth place for $120,000. Keith Tilston did the honors holding ace-high against the queen-high of Schulman and eliminating him in fifth. Tilston left quickly after when Kenney shoved pocket threes and Tilston called with two overs. Tilston couldn’t find a pair and Kenney won another hand, sending Tilston to the rail with $150,000.
Kenney catapulted to a huge lead thanks to a blind versus blind hand against the start of day chip leader, and eventual third-place finisher Ben Yu ($210,000). Kenney flopped two pair against Yu’s top pair and the later couldn’t find a fold when he was put almost all in on the river. Yu used three of his time extensions and then called only to be left with very little chips.

With seven events in the books, Stephen Chidwick still holds the top spot in the overall USPO standings. Sean Winter is in second place and Cary Katz sits in third. These three players have done almost nothing but make final tables, and so far it looks like it might be a three-horse race.
However, the points will increase for the $100,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event, with the winner getting 350 points. There is a chance that if Kenney has another strong finish, he may contend.

Jake Schindler Eliminated in 2nd Place ($300,000)
Jake Schindler sat back and enjoyed the Bryn Kenney show as Kenney cruised through the other players at the final table and held a massive lead against Schindler.
Schindler got his remaining chips in with [Ac7s] against the [KcJd] of Kenney.
The board ran out [Kh9h2d2h8s], giving Kenney the pot and the tournament win. Schindler takes home $300,000 and his first 2019 U.S. Poker Open cash.

Ben Yu Eliminated in 3rd Place ($210,000)
Ben Yu came into the day as the chip leader but found himself heading to the rail in third place shortly after calling a huge river bet from Bryn Kenney to lose all but 150,000.
He managed to hang around for a little, earning another double.
Eventually, Yu got [Td6d] all in against Kenney’s [QsJs] preflop.
The board ran out [Kh4s3cAs9s] and Yu was eliminated in third place. He takes home $210,000 for his finish.

Kenney Gets Max Value, Leaves Yu Short
Ben Yu limped the small blind with [Qh6h] and Bryn Kenney raised from the big blind with [8d3c] to 225,000. Yu called. The flop came [Qd8d3c] and Yu check-called 185,000. The turn was the [Kc] and Yu checked again.
Kenney bet 545,000 and Yu called.
The river was the [9h] and Yu checked a third time. Kenney bet 1,150,000.
Yu used all three of his time extensions before calling and losing the pot. Yu was left with just under 200,000.

Keith Tilston Eliminated in 4th Place ($150,000)
Bryn Kenney shoved all in with two threes, [3c3s] and Keith Tilston called to put himself at risk with [AsJc].

Nick Schulman Eliminated in 5th Place ($120,000)
Nick Schulman, who got two shoves through on the first two hands of the day, was eliminated in fifth place when he got all in against Keith Tilston. Schulman had [QhTd] against the [Ac8h] of Tilston.
The board ran out [AhQs7hKd8s] and Schulman was eliminated in fifth place. He will take home $120,000 for his finish and his first cash of the 2019 U.S. Poker Open.

Nick Petrangelo raised from the small blind with [Jc6c], going all in for a little more than 400,000. Bryn Kenney called from the big blind with [Kh8c].

Cards In the Air
The final table for Event #7 $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em is underway.
Live at 5pm ET: Commanding Lead for Ben Yu Over Kenney, Schindler, Schulman.
Ben Yu is way in front of the remaining six players in Event #7 – $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em. This is Yu’s second final table at the U.S. Poker Open and he’s will have a solid chance to jump into the conversation about who can win the overall points leaderboard.
Currently, Stephen Chidwick leads the 2019 USPO with two wins and four final tables. Sean Winter made the first four final tables of the USPO and is currently in second. Cary Katz is in third, after making three final tables.
Jake Schindler, Bryn Kenney, Nick Schulman, and Keith Tilston are all making their 2019 USPO final table debuts. While Nick Petrangelo joins Yu with two final tables so far.

Earlier in the USPO, Ali Imsirovic started the day with a big lead, and took a little more than two hours to dispatch his opponents and take down the Event #5 – $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em.
Yu will be hard pressed to duplicate those exact results, but Yu does enter with a similar lead.
