Sean Perry talked all day about how he had no idea how to play No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw. Still, he let his play at the table speak for himself as he heads into the final table of Event #4, $10,000 Big Bet Mix with the chip lead, after eliminating the final two players of the evening.
Joining Perry at the final table are Alex Foxen, Maxx Coleman, Jim Collopy, Brian Okin, and John Riordan.
Coleman is at his second final table of the U.S. Poker Open after finishing in fifth place during Event #2. He will be looking to improve on that finish as he sits second in chips after holding the chip lead for most of the afternoon and well into the evening, only to see Perry pass him right at day’s end.
Foxen is the only other player with over a million in chips at the final table. However, Foxen was down to his last 26,000 in chips after Collopy rivered a straight for close to a million chip pot while playing Pot-Limit Omaha late in level 10.
Foxen went on to double three hands in a row and ultimately got most of his chips back from Collopy when he made a massive call with ace-high on the river while playing No-Limit Hold’em against the jack-high of Collopy.
Event #4 saw a 48 entrant field which created a prize pool of $480,000 and the final six players have locked up at least $28,800, but all eyes are on the first-place prize of $163,000.
Jeremy Ausmus was the first player eliminated in the money after moving all-in pre-flop while playing No-Limit 2-7 single draw holding [7x6x5x3x] for a seven-six draw against the [9x6x5x2x] for a nine-six draw of Perry. Perry pealed a three to complete his nine-six, and Ausmus pealed a jack to finish in seventh place for $19,800.
Perry would also burst the money bubble when he flopped a pair of eights to eliminate Majid Yahyaei while playing No-Limit Hold’em. Other notables to finish just outside the money included Ali Imsriovic, Chris Brewer, Sean Winter, and Stephen Chidwick.
