Ali Imsirovic Wins Venetian High Roller Event #4: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $270,000
The concluding high roller tournament at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas has been won by a familiar face as 2021 PokerGO Tour Champion Ali Imsirovic has kicked off 2022 with his first victory in Venetian High Roller Event #4: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em.
Imsirovic has taken one step towards topping his 2021 that included multiple player of the year honors, 14 high roller titles, and over $6 million in winnings on the PokerGO Tour. Imsirovic pocketed $270,000 in prize money and claimed his first victory of the year.
The final high roller tournament of the series attracted a 20-entrant field that created a $500,000 prize pool that paid the final three players. Once registration closed following dinner break, just nine players remained as Alex Foxen would be the first to fall after doubling Masashi Oya before running into his trips. Barry Hutter exited next when he lost a race before a short-stacked Justin Saliba exited in sixth when he bricked his combo draw against Imsirovic. Down to the final five players, chips swirled between all three before Cary Katz was dealt a horrendous beat when the at-risk Imsirovic went runner-runner full house to crush Katz’s trips.
Katz’s run would end shortly after when his dominated ace was unable to improve against Oya. The next hand, Sam Soverel would be eliminated on the money bubble when his pocket deuces ran into Oya’s pocket kings. With the final three players in-the-money, it would be Imsirovic surging into the lead when his superior full house found value from the under-full of Oya. Steven Grady would double Oya, find a double through Imsirovic, but then exit in third place when he committed with top pair but ran into the overpair of Oya. The Japanese player held a small advantage entering heads-up play and immediately extending it to a three-to-one advantage over Imsirovic.
A few pots headed Imsirovic’s way before he rivered a flush and check-raised Oya. Imsirovic now held a two-to-one lead, and shortly after, the final hand played out where he flopped two pair as Oya turned top pair. Imsirovic shoved the river and Oya called and was shown the bad news to be eliminated in second place for his second cash of the series. Imsirovic pocketed $270,000 in prize money and moves into third place overall on the PokerGO Tour leaderboard behind Punnat Punsri and Alex Foxen.
