Ali Imsirovic was dead even with Sean Perry for second in chips when four-handed play began but would take the chip lead when he eliminated Perry in fourth place and never looked back en route to the ARIA High Roller Event #2: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em title.
Imsirovic was all-in holding ace-king, and Perry made the call holding ace-queen with both players sitting with precisely 885,000. A king on the flop sealed Perry’s fate, and he was eliminated in fourth place for $39,600.
Imsirovic put a stranglehold on the chip lead and crossed the two million chip mark a few hands later when he left Alex Foxen with just 5,000 in chips. Foxen would double on consecutive hands from the blinds before getting his last 55,000 into the middle, holding ace-king against Imsirovic’s queen-six of diamonds. A queen on the flop sealed Foxen’s fate, and he walked away with $57,600 for his third-place finish.
Jake Daniels came into the final table of nine with the chip lead and looked to be in cruise control when he crossed the two million chip mark four-handed giving him 55% of the chips in play but after doubling up the short stack Perry could only watch as Imsirovic started to pull away.
When heads-up play began, Imsirovic held a 1.5 to 1 chip lead, and Daniels couldn’t find any momentum as heads-up lasted approximately 20 minutes before Daniels found himself all-in for his last 200,000 holding king-four against Imsirovic’s ace-ten. A four on the flop gave Daniels the lead, but when the river landed, a ten Imsirovic found a better pair to eliminate Daniels in second place for $86,400.
After a rough start, Daniel Negreanu was able to bounce back strong and finished in fifth place for $28,8000 after running his pocket threes into the ace-queen of Foxen. An ace on the river sealed Kid Poker’s fate but not before securing the coveted PGT Tour point.
Adedapo Ajayi made the most of his first tournament inside the PokerGO Studio as the former WPT winner navigated the field to a six-place finish and took home $18,000 after running his pocket nines into the flopped trips of Daniels.
Event #1 winner Cary Katz was looking for his second cash in as many days but ran into the buzzsaw that was Imsirovic on the bubble. Katz held pocket sevens only to see Imsirovic table pocket nines. Katz couldn’t find one of the last two sevens and was sent out the door to burst the Event #2 money bubble.
Other notables to finish just outside the money included Sean Winter (8th), Johan Guilbert (9th) and Justin Saliba (10th).
