Welcome to Event #5 of the Australian Poker Open

Welcome to The Star Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, for the inaugural 2020 Australian Poker Open and Event #5: AU$25,000 No-Limit Hold’em.

Following the expansion to England and the Bahamas in 2019 with the British Poker Open, Super High Roller Bowl London, and Super High Roller Bowl Bahamas, Poker Central continues to expand by heading to Australia with the creation of both the Australian Poker Open (January 25 – February 1) and the Super High Roller Bowl Australia (February 2 – 4).

Both events will stream exclusively on PokerGO, Poker Central’s OTT streaming service, and will take place at The Star Gold Coast in Broadbeach, Queensland. The two high roller events will be held in partnership with the World Poker Tour®, which held its first-ever Australian tour stop at The Star Gold Coast in October 2019.

The Australian Poker Open will have a total of seven different events over eight days, with buy-ins ranging from AU$10,000 – AU$100,000 in varying poker formats, including No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha. The player who earns the most High Roller of the Year points during the series will be named the Australian Poker Open Champion and will receive the first-ever Australian Poker Open trophy.

Today will see the beginning of the Australian Poker Open with Event #5: AU$25,000 No-Limit Hold’em. Players will begin with 125,000 in starting chips and be playing 30-minute levels with play ending once the final table is down to six players. There are no tournament fees for players who register by 12 p.m. and each player is allowed two re-entries through the first nine levels (ending approximately 5 p.m. local time). There is also a 30-second shot clock in play for the duration of the tournament and each player will receive six 30-second time banks each day.

The cards are expected to be in the air for Event #5 of the 2020 Australian Poker Open at 12 p.m. (AEST) / 9 p.m. (EST) with the Poker Central Live Reporting team providing continuous live updates until just six players remain.
