At the same time as Chino Rheem’s demise, another notable player exited. German high roller Rainer Kempe will not return from break as he too lost his chips right before the 15-minute pause of the tournament.
According to our colleagues on the ground, Kempe saw himself in a 1.9 million pot with the board reading [Tc2s2d8d]. Kempe sat in the hijack and checked to Martin Arce who bet 675,000 in position. Kempe shoved for around 5 million and Arce called.
Kempe showed [9s7h] for the open-ended and Arce tabled [Ad4h]. The [3s] on the river was a blank and Kempe hit the rail.

Right around the time the players went on break, Chino Rheem busted. Marty Mathis told us the details of the hand.
Lineu Penteado opened and Chino Rheem, having only looked at one of his cards, had a back and forth about going all in and eventually did just that. Penteado called.
Lineu Penteado showed [AxKx] and easily beat Chino Rheem’s [Ax8x] off suit.

The turn was the [kh] and Arce checked again after check-raising the flop. Harada now pushed all in and a very quick fold by Arce followed.

Gumz Busts Balzano
Ivan Balzano opened under the gun plus one for 5,000,000 leaving himself about 700,000 or so behind. It folded to Fabian Gumz in the big blind who pushed. Balzano used the timebank card he had left to think about it, hoping someone would go out on another table first as there was a money bubble ongoing. He eventually called when the other tables didn’t show any sign of action.
Ivan Balzano: [7s7h]
Fabian Gumz: [QcQh]
The board ran out an uneventful [Ad9hTc] [5c] [4c] and Balzano exited.
