Better Start for Silver
Yesterday, on Day 1a, Max Silver was one of the first to bust, getting it in good against Oliver Price but getting outdrawn. Today, so far, is better.
We walked up as Silver was betting out 27,000 from the big blind on a board of [5h7s9s] [Qh] [8s]. His neighbor on his left called, but mucked upon being shown Silver’s [4s6c] for the rivered straight.

Steady Stream of Entrants
Players continue to stroll in a leisurely fashion into the Main Event, which with hour levels gives them the latitude to late register with near stack-impunity. An announcement was made that today’s flight will allow one re-entry, with registration open all day.

Early 100k for O’Kearney
Dara O’Kearney, iPad in hand, is one of the early birds ready to make the most of Level 1. Ipad in hand, he has still been involved in a few start of level pots, including one that boosted his stack by around 10%.
Artur Gjoka opened in early position to 12,000 called by Stephen Nash and O’Kearney on the button. On a [5c8s3c] flop, it checked to O’Kearney, who bet 16,000, called by Gjoka alone. Both players checked the [7c] turn. On the [5s] river, Gjoka led out for 40,000, called swiftly by O’Kearney.

Welcome to Day 1b of the partypoker MILLIONS UK $10,300 Main Event
With 87 players already through to Day 2 from the first flight, today represents a fresh chance to join them for those eliminated from the partypoker MILLIONS $10,300 Main Event yesterday, or just arriving at Dusk Till Dawn to dip their first toes in it.
Main Event players receive 1,000,000 chips and eight hour-long levels in which to utilize them. Day 1a’s most successful accumulator was Philipp Zukernik, who ended the day with almost 5.9 million chips (nearly 196 big blinds tomorrow), followed closely by Anton Emanuel Suarez Johansson (5,525,000) and Mauricio Ferreira Pais (5,510,000).
The eye-opening $5,000,000 guarantee on this event needs 500 runners to hit; Day 1a brought 170 to the tables. Many players, including those who made deep runs in the $25,500 Super High Roller and the Mini Main, will undoubtedly come fresh to the Main Event today, as well as the usual heady mix of partypoker qualifiers and seasoned UK and international pros; we expect a full house at DTD and all the exciting poker action that entails.
Live coverage starts with the “shuffle up and deal” at noon UK time. Streaming takes a break today from tournament coverage (a cash game featuring an eminently watchable line-up including Sam Trickett, Luke Schwartz, Roland de Wolfe, The Wolf, and Leon Tsoukernik is on the cards to be streamed this evening from Nottingham) but will resume for the Main Event’s Day 2 on Friday.
Pais Amongst Big Stacks After Day 1a of partypoker MILLIONS UK

Day 1a of the partypoker MILLIONS UK Main Event in the Dusk Till Dawn got underway at noon today with a total of 170 players entering.
After eight levels of play, some massive stacks emerged with Mauricio Ferreira Pais seemingly collecting the most. He battled it out all day with the likes of Steven van Zadelhoff, Marvin Rettenmaier, and Joep Raemaekers at his table. Pais came out on top with a stack of over 5.5 million, no small feat considering everyone started with a million in chips. Pais will return on Day 2 with almost 184 big blinds.
Jiushuang Wang too had a great day, turning his million starting stack into 4.5 million, knocking out players left and right along the way. The biggest scalp came in a pot against partypoker PRO Roberto Romanello. While Romanello is, amongst other things, known for folding a full house in the WSOP Main Event a decade ago to the amazement of Mike Matusow, he wasn’t willing to repeat that feat here in Nottingham. He called with queens full of jacks, only to see Wang turn over queens full of kings on the river.
Wang is by no means the only one to multiply his stack. Such big names as Marvin Rettenmaier (3.8 million), Sam Grafton (2 million), November Niner Bryan Piccioli (3.1 million), and partypoker’s Joao Simao (3.5 million) all did well too.
Oliver Price was the first to head the tournament. Price’s surgence came at the expense of bracelet winner Max Silver who suffered a bad beat with top-pair and top-kicker all in against Price’s flush draw on the turn. A heart on the river sealed Silver’s faith and catapulted Price to the role of chipleader. Price didn’t stay up top and lost a fair bit of chips back throughout the rest of the day, ending the eight level with just over starting stack.
Day 2 sees the players return to action with blinds at 15,000 and 30,000. But before the 87 Day 1a survivors continue their quest for gold, first Day 1b will be played out on Thursday, January 9th. Players that busted on Day 1a today have another shot by handing over another $10,300 in exchange for a fresh 1,000,000 starting stack.
