The 10th event of the 2021 Poker Masters has its winner. Topping the 38-entrant field was Mikita Badziakouski, defeating Seth Davies in heads-up play and winning $342,000.
“It feels good, but you know, it’s just about luck,” Badziakouski said. “We had 38 entries and I had my chances and that’s how it happened.”
Badziakouski was playing his first event of the 2021 Poker Masters, coming to Las Vegas for the tail end of this series and leading into the Super High Roller Bowl that is coming up September 27-29, 2021.
“I believe it’s not really influencing the situation, or at least it should not be,” Badziakouski said when asked about how this win may serve as some momentum heading into the Super High Roller Bowl. “As a professional, I just need to come and try to perform my best no matter the results from the previous events.”
Being a professional poker player, Badziakouski has undoubtedly been on both sides of variance. There are times when he’s lost due to variance or others when he has benefitted from it, such as a few key pots at this final table. Good or bad, variance has a way of playing with one’s emotions, but Badziakouski said it’s important to stay grounded.
“It’s very easy to lose yourself in sorts about previous hands, which is not necessary and probably not the best choice,” he said. “I’m glad I managed to notice when I’m out of sorts about previous hands and actually try to get my focus back to what is going on. Maybe that’s helped a little, but at the most, it’s just about luck.”

Five players returned for Day 2, and it was Jason Koon busting first on the day. It was Koon’s second cash of the 2021 Poker Masters and his fifth-place finish was worth $76,000.
Next to go was PokerGO Tour presented by Guaranteed Rate leaderboard frontrunner Ali Imsirovic. Imsirovic was second in chips to Badziakouski with four players left and the two of them clashed in a big pot. Imsirovic picked up pocket kings on the button and raised to 75,000 with the linds at 15,000/25,000 with a 25,000 big blind ante. From the big blind, Badziakouski reraised to 275,000. Imsirovic then four-bet to 475,000. Badziakouski moved all in for Imsirovic called off his stack for 1.265 million. Imsirovic had the [KsKh] to Badziakouski’s [AdKd]. The board ran out [QdQsTsJs4c] and Imsirovic was eliminated in fourth place for $104,500.
Daniel Negreanu needed a second-place finish or better to move to the top of the 2021 Poker Masters leaderboard. He didn’t get it, though, as he was eliminated in third place for $152,000. On his final hand, Negreanu was all in with pocket sixes against the pocket aces for Badziakouski. Negreanu found no help and was eliminated.
To begin heads-up play, Davies had the chip lead by a little more than 1 million, with his 2.885 million in chips up against Badziakouski’s 1.865 million.
After working his way to more than 3 million in chips, Davies had Badziakouski all in and on the ropes with one card to come. The two got the money in preflop with Badziakouski holding the [Jc9c] to Davies’ [Ac6h]. Davies faded the flop and turn, but a nine on the river gave Badziakouski a key double up and the chip lead.
The two later got all in again, this time with Badziakouski holding the [QhTs] to Davies’ [Js4h]. The flop and turn was [Jc8h6c7h] before once again a nine hit the river ([9s) to win it for Badziakouski. This time, the win meant Badziakouski had won the tournament, with Davies finishing second for $228,000.

Mikita Badziakouski Leads The Final Table of Event #10: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em
![](https://storage.googleapis.com/pokercentral/2021/09/543e8cde-mikita-badziakouski_poker-masters_antonioa_aa_01219-1024x684.jpg)
Playing in his first live high roller on American soil in over a year due to Covid-19, Mikita Badziakouski finds himself with the chip lead as Event #10: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em is down to a stacked final table of five. Joining Badziakouski are Ali Imsirovic, Jason Koon, Seth Davies, and Daniel Negreanu.
Badziakouski, Imsirovic, and Negreanu battled for the chip lead back and forth over the last two levels of the day, but it would be Badziakouski solidifying himself as the chip leader when he eliminated Chris Brewer in sixth place to send the final five home for the evening.
Badziakouski opened from the button to 40,000, and Brewer moved all-in from the big blind for 320,000 total. Badziakouski called and tabled [AhJd] well ahead of the [Ad7h] of Brewer. The board ran out jack-high, and Brewer was eliminated, taking home $47,500.
While Badziakouski had a healthy chip stack for much of the day, Imsirovic was down to his last 6,000 in chips late in level four after doubling up Brewer. Imsirovic then took that 6,000, eventually running it all the way up to nearly 1.8 million when he eliminated Jake Daniels in ninth place.
Imsirovic would then lose a chunk of his stack to Badziakouski several hands later, putting the two nearly dead even in chips. With the board reading [Jh4h5s9c6d] and approximately 200,000 in the middle, Imsirovic moved all-in for 462,000 effective, over two times the pot. Badziakouski used a time extension, called tabling [AsAc] for a pair of aces, Imsirovic tabled [Th8d] for a busted straight draw, doubling up Badziakouski.
Negreanu came into the final table seventh in chips, and he, too, would find a double through Imsirovic to get into the mix for the chip lead. Negreanu opened to 40,000 from under the gun, and action folded to Imsirovic in the big blind, and he called. The flop landed [7h4s2h], and Imsirovic led for 25,000. Negreanu raised to 150,000, and imsirovic called.
The turn [Ks] hit the felt, and Imsirovic checked. Negreanu went all-in for 270,000, and Imsirovic called. Imsirovic table [7s6s] for a pair and a flush draw, and Negreanu tabled [KdJc] for a pair of kings. The river [5c] completed the board, and Negreanu doubled to 925,000.
Twenty minutes later, Negreanu would send the field into the money when eliminated Bill Klein to burst the money bubble. Klein was down to his last 70,000 holding king-ten against Negreanu’s ace-nine. The board ran out [Js8s7c6d6h]. Klein missed his straight draw and, in turn, just missed the money.
With two events to go the race for the 2021 Poker Master crown and the purple jacket is coming down to the wire. Brewer currently sits with 349 points after his sixth-place finish, good for third in the overall standings just nine points behind second-place Brock Wilson and 27 points behind Lou Garza.
Garza became the first person ever to finish in the top three in back-to-back-to-back Poker Master events, finishing third, in Event #7 and #8, and second in Event #9 to take the lead for the purple jack but Negreanu can overtake the budding star with a second-place or better finish in Event #10. Negreanu currently sits in fourth place with 281 points and will be looking for his second Poker Masters trophy after finishing third in Event #3 and taking home the win in Event #5.
The 38-entrant field in Event #10 created a prize pool of $950,000 with the winner taking home $342,000 and the remaining five players are all guaranteed at least $76,000.
