No more than a couple of big blinds changed hands in any one of the first four hands on the televised table of Day 2 of the Main Event (Vicente Bosca Ramon involved in some way in three of them), before a hugely tense pot played out between start of day chip leader Jason Koon (on the button) and Tim Adams in the small blind.
It folded to Koon, who made it 12,000 to go with [6s5s]. Adams three-bet to 40,000 with [QcJd] and Koon made the call, hitting a pair of fives on the [8c2h5c] flop. Adams bet 50,000; call. He bet again, 125,000 this time, on the [2d] turn and Koon called again. The river brought the [3c] and a full emptying of the clip from Adams, who shipped in his remaining 176,000, still with queen high. Koon went into the tank.
“It’s real easy just to have king of clubs, queen, man,” said Koon as he thought about calling through a timebank’s extra 30 seconds.
“I’ll leave it up to the gods,” he said, before passing his hand.

Day 2 Underway
The tournament director has now instructed dealers to shuffle up and start pitching the cards.
Artur Martirosyan Takes Over, Shoves the River
Seth Davies opened from the hijack, Artur Martirosyan defended his big blind and the dealer fanned out [ah8c5s] on the flop.
Action checked to Davies, he bet 10,000 and Martirosyan check-raised to 37,000. Davies called to see the [3c] turn card and Martirosyan pushed in 58,000.
Davies called and the [9s] completed the board. Martirosyan shoved the river card, putting Davies at risk but the American ducked out and Martirosyan took down the pot without show.

The second day of Event #8: $250,000 Super High Roller Bowl Russia is slated to begin at 2 p.m. (MSK) with 23 of the 34 entries returning from Day 1 minimum as the late registration period is still open for another level here on Day 2 and more players are expected to jump in during this time.
Starting the day off as chipleader is Jason Koon with 745,000 after his best Day 1 performance of the series. Close behind Koon on the totem pole is Triton Poker co-founder Paul Phua who bagged a healthy-sized 666,500 by night’s end and will be in hunt of his fifth final table during this Sochi Series.
Rounding out the top three is one of the best in the world in Stephen Chidwick who hasn’t had the best of weeks but will be starting Day 2 in a prime position to turn it around with his 598,500 in chips. Chidwick has been a high roller regular for as long as most can remember, amassing over $34 million in career earnings along the way and will be looking to bump that number up here in the main event.
