Meet The Players: Seth Davies

Earlier this year, the name Seth Davies got a huge boost after his appearance on INSIDERS on PokerGO where he was followed around by the cameras in his preparation for the Super High Roller Bowl along with Daniel Negreanu and Brandon Adams. Right now, Davies has embarked on another journey in this event as he looks to wash away the sour taste of finishing on the exact money bubble in May.
“I’ve got a lot more experience now and a lot less stress going into this thing,” Davies said the day prior to the start of the event.
“It’s still stressful, it being one of the biggest buy-ins of the year, but I’ve been there before and I’ve dealt with the most stressful result possible by finishing on the stone bubble. So yeah, I’m prepared for anything.”
In May, during Justin Bonomo’s unstoppable run, Davies finished in eighth place receiving $90,000, a min-cash created by three players dropping out and losing their $30,000 deposit. On his final hand, Davies ran pocket tens into the jacks of Jason Koon to turn him from a contender into a spectator.

Relive Justin Bonomo’s 2018 Super High Roller Bowl Win
No matter what happens this week, this year will go down as “The Year of Bonomo,” as Justin Bonomo strung results like the world of poker has never seen before. After a hot start by finishing second in the PCA $100,000 Super High Roller to Cary Katz, Bonomo won Super High Roller Bowl China before making his way to Las Vegas.
The fourth edition of the Super High Roller Bowl fell prey to Bonomo, who battled his way through a stacked final table that included Jason Koon, Nick Petrangelo, Mikita Badziakouski, Christoph Vogelsang, and Stephen Chidwick. In the player below, watch Bonomo take home the $5,000,000 and the Championship ring after defeating Daniel Negreanu heads up.

On a flop of [td][8c][4c], Sam Soverel bet 4,000 from the big blind and Cary Katz moved all in on the button. Soverel called and was all in for his last 15,000.
Soverel showed [kc][kd] and was in good shape against Katz’s [js][tc]. The turn was the [7s] and the river was the [5s]. Soverel doubled up and is still short, but has two add-ons left to use.
Giuseppe Iadisernia Loses Race to Bryn Kenney
Giuseppe Iadisernia limped in under the gun and Nick Petrangelo raised to 3,500 from the cutoff. Bryn Kenney called from the button, and Phil Hellmuth called in the small blind.
Iadisernia shoved all in for 34,000 when the action returned to him, and after Petrangelo folded, Kenney called. Hellmuth open-mucked his [7h][7c].
Iadisernia: [ac][jd]
Kenney: [6h][6s]
The dealer spread the [2h][8d][td][3c][4h] board and Iadisernia was forced to add on.
Talal Shakerchi Fades Rainer Kempe’s Gutshot

On a flop of [ah][td][9h], Rainer Kempe checked from the big blind and Talal Shakerchi bet 4,000 from under the gun. Kempe called and the turn is the [6c].
Kempe checked again and Shakerchi bet again, this time 9,000. Kempe called. The river was the [8c] and both players checked. Kempe showed [kc][jd] and Shakerchi won the pot with [ad][jc].
Cary Katz Strikes Two Pair on the River
From the cutoff, Jason Koon raised to 2,500 and both Cary Katz and Fedor Holz called in the blinds.
The flop landed [6d][7s][jc] and action checked to Koon who continued for 3,500. Both Katz and Holz called as the [4c] fell on the turn.
Katz checked, Holz bet out 7,500, and Koon mucked. Katz came along and called as both players checked the [8s] on the river.
Katz tabled his [8c][6c] for two pair, and Holz mucked.
Talal Shakerchi Doubles Through Steffen Sontheimer
Talal Shakerchi raised to 2,500 from under the gun and Rick Salomon three-bet to 10,000 from middle position. Steffen Sontheimer four-bet to 25,000 on the button before Shakerchi went all in. Salomon folded and Sontheimer called.
It was a classic race between Shakerchi’s [ah][kd] against Sontheimer’s [qc][qd].
The board ran out [kh][jc][8d][7s][6c] and Shakerchi paired his king on the flop to double up. He was already in for all three add-ons and forced Sontheimer to use his first.
