Player Spotlight: Chris Vitch
Chris Vitch is back at the U.S. Poker Open and he’s on a mission to avenge a runner-up finish that denied him the title of 2018 USPO Mixed Game Champion.
Stephen Chidwick beat Vitch heads up to win the mixed-game title at the 2018 USPO. While Chidwick is on another incredible run at this year’s USPO, Vitch didn’t enter to be the bridesmaid again.
Event #8, the $25,000 Mixed-Game buy-in convinced Vitch to make his first appearance at the 2019 U.S. Poker Open. He’s a mixed-game specialist, and one of the best in the world having won World Series of Poker Bracelets in 2016 in the $2,500 Limit Mixed Triple Draw Lowball; and in 2017 in the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo event, which was his largest career cash ($320,103).
He lists his favorite game as Triple Draw and his past occupation as a compute engineer.
Off the felt, Vitch is one of the founding members of DeucesCracked.com, a poker coaching site that “helps poker players become unstoppable.”
According to his biography, Vitch first started playing Texas Hold’em with friends in his college dormitory in the early 2000s and he launched his poker career by building a bankroll after winning an online freeroll.
“Early on in my poker career I found the 2+2 books and strategy forums where I have learned much of what I know about poker,” Vitch’s DeucesCracked biography reads.
Vitch will have to use all he knows to finish off Event #8 and win the Mixed-Game title that eluded him last year.
