Michael Brinkenhoff eliminated three of the final four players en route to the title and the first place prize of $105,800 in Venetian Las Vegas High Roller Event #6: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em.
Brinkenhoff got the eliminations flowing when he coolered Dylan Linde to burst the Event #6 Money Bubble five-handed. Linde moved all-in over the top of a raise and a call from the small blind with pocket kings only to see Brinkenhoff wake up with pocket aces in the big blind. An ace on the flop sealed Linde’s fate. Brinkenhoff crossed a million chips and took the chip lead for the remainder of the night.
A short time later, Brinkenhoff would cripple Anthony Hu when he flopped quad sixes. Brinkenhoff would seal Hu’s fate the next hand when his king-jack bested Hu’s jack-nine. A king on the flop sent Hu to the rail in fourth place for $23,000.
Three-handed play would be a slug fest as no one wanted to give an inch as chips flew back and forth between Brinkenhoff, Andrew Lichtenberger, and Shannon Shorr. Shorr and Lichtenberger sat virtually even in chips, but Shorr would slowly pull away as he would build a comfortable cushion on Lichtenberger.
Lichtenberger finally got his last 260,000 into the middle, holding ace-eight against Shorr’s queen-jack in a blind-on-blind battle, but a jack on the flop vaulted Shorr into the lead. Lichtenberger turned a straight draw, but the river bricked out, and Lucky Chewy walked away with a third place finish for $36,800.
Shorr and Brinkenhoff started heads-up action with nearly identical chip stacks, but the RevitaLash Cosmetics founder would stay hot, eventually pulling away when he got a big shove through on the river to take a commanding chip lead.
Shorr would double shortly thereafter, but the deck kept finding Brinkenhoff as Shorr moved all-in for his last 290,000, holding king-five against Brinkenhoff’s six-five of hearts. Three hearts on the flop left Shorr drawing dead, and he was eliminated in second place for $64,400.
