Daniel Negreanu has collected his second victory of 2022 after winning the Wynn High Roller #2: $15,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $216,000 in prize money. Negreanu now sits seventh on the 2022 PokerGO Tour leaderboard with 490 points and looks to improve on his seventh-place finish in the 2021 PokerGO Tour.
The second high roller of the 2022 Wynn Millions would attract a total of 40 entrants and created a $600,000 prize pool that paid the top six players. A total of 24 unique players took part with new faces making an appearance such as Dan Smith, Daniel Lazrus, Chuanhao Zhang, Julius Threadgill, and Boris Akopov.
The tournament progressed quickly until the final table was reached with Ren Lin holding the chip lead. Negreanu found a huge double to contest for the chip lead when he held in a race with pocket jacks against Perry’s ace-king. Just a few hands later a double knockout would see Perry and Akopov exit to put the tournament on the bubble with seven players remaining. Seven-handed play would last over two hours with the short stacks continually finding doubles before Sergio Aido would exit in seventh.
2021 PokerGO Tour champion Ali Imsirovic exited in sixth place when his pocket kings were outdrawn by Negreanu’s ace-king, as Sean Winter exited next when he ran into Sergi Reixach’s pocket aces. Brock Wilson fell in fourth to Lin as a three-handed battle began between Lin, Negreanu and Reixach. Lin would relinquish his lead momentarily to Negreanu, but after regaining it he would double Negreanu after the Canadian spiked a fortunate three-outer on the river. Lin would be the next to fall when he couldn’t outdraw Negreanu’s pocket nines with a suited ace.
Heads-up play began with Negreanu holding the advantage over Reixach. Negreanu immediately extended his lead out to a three-to-one advantage, but after several pots went the Spaniard’s way, the stacks were nearly back to even. Negreanu would play a hand where he check-raised the flop and turn to push back out to a three-to-one advantage, and a short time later he would shove the button with nine-eight and outdraw the pocket fours of Reixach to claim victory in the Wynn High Roller #2 for $216,000.
